Letter to Alleva (ok, I scratched the word "open", sensitive types)
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/10 at 4:35 pm
Dear Sir: Coach Miles is a brand unto himself, and has a 10-year record that is to be applauded. At the same time, he does not deserve any additional raises if he decides to consider the Michigan job. Since this is the third dance with the Michigan position, and since the first two dances y...

Develop or Niche - What to do with Jennings
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/8 at 7:36 pm
Will Miles and Cam "niche" to Jennings' ability in the next 2 years? Or is he "developable" into a QB who can see the field? I imagine there is some thought that "of course he can be developed with more intentional practice by Cam". But, is this true? Look at Jefferson. He never developed desp...

"I'm patient, yet eager, for whenever the opportunity presents itself"
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/8 at 4:51 pm
That is a quote from Frank Wilson. That is a clear message to any AD that he will listen to a Head Coach offer. He is happy with his current role and place, for sure, but I think he intends to be "cultivated" (his word from the New Orleans QB Club presentation) at LSU for a bit longer until the righ...

TAMU and ND: A Dream matchup for Jennings
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/7 at 10:22 pm
To end the season, you could not ask for 2 brand name teams that provide great matchups for LSU tp play against, especially when you consider the LSU offense and the TAMU and ND defenses. Jennings will finish the season with a lot of confidence heading into his final 2 years as a starter. ...

The QB: The Making of Modern Quarterbacks
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/7 at 10:18 pm
We should all buy and ship this book to coach. However, if you read this book, which you should because it is outstanding, check out the insights on Brandon Harris in it. I'll leave it to you to do so, as you should form your own opinion. [link=(http://www.amazon.com/The-QB-Making-Modern-Quar...

ND Pass Yards Allowed
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/7 at 8:03 pm
They are ranked 83rd. Miles will love this to give Jennings a chance to look good as we head into Jennings starting next year. We will run to set up the pass. Would be hard to ask for a more favorable match-up for our inept pass offense....

Cupcake game scheduling Effect
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/7 at 7:53 pm
LSU and Bama can get away with scheduling a cupcake or two since the SEC West is so strong of a schedule. But Baylor and TCU are not the same. In reality, how much does it really affect a teams winning percentage? Very litte. If Baylor had played Southern Miss and Nevada they would have the s...

Miles being Miles - the benefits of the bait
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/4 at 3:16 pm
What are the benefits to Miles to have this lingering Michigan option? 1) He has used it successfully to increase his pay, and may do so again. 2) He has used it successfully to show recruits how "LSU is THE place to be", which has contributed to his already strong recruiting skills. So, if...

Perspective on Chavis
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/3 at 5:05 pm
Earlier in the year many (myself included) were wondering about Chief. Was he great, or was he a man who knew how to work with great talent? Of course we all know that there is merit to the "Third and Chavis", and letting the Aggies back into the game shows why (this irrational conversion from ma...

10 Years and Hand off the Baton (Rouge)...to another
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/3 at 12:58 pm
(crap, just noticed the coaches board...admins, please move) Miles has 10 years in the books at LSU, or he will complete his 10 years of coaching shortly. He has a great record, despite the steady dose of offensive frustrations. Is this a clean break opportunity for him to return to his hom...

LSU a pass-through to the League?
Posted by Football_Freak on 12/1 at 1:18 pm
Has NFLSU become too much of a reality? Has it gotten so engrained as part of the recruiting methodology that we are in a state that cannot build back to very strong status as a Program? Is this part of what happened to Florida State and Miami before they fell from dominance? [link=(http://lsu...

Progress or Fool's Gold?
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/28 at 7:21 pm
Great win over the Ags. Cam had the right plan for his QB's talent and the Ags defense. Aside from it getting way too close in the 4th QTR, it was beautiful. If this is indicative of what Cam can learn to do with Jennings, then perhaps there can be some growth. Perhaps Jennings is turning the corner...

The return of Diarse
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/28 at 12:59 pm
He's a man. He will be playing on Sunday. It was great see him re-integrated into the game plan. The "3D's are the best combo for the Tigers - Dural, Dupre and Diarse are the receivers that should be on the field for 3-receiver sets....

3 Questions
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/26 at 10:38 am
Miles has 10 years nearly in the books. At least 7 or 8 of these give us insight into HIS philosophy and judgment on QB RECRUITMENT-DEVELOPMENT-SELECTION-MANAGEMENT. That is statistically significant and patterns are strong with such a time of consideration. As such, here are the "3 Questions": ...

JUCO or bust
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/25 at 1:33 pm
Miles was unable to tame RP. Miles and BH have a poor relationship, and that is highly unlikely to change. AJ is just a very poor QB. LSU has no one else. 2015 and 2016 are hanging in the balance. Cam and Mett were JUCO transfers. Pinning all hope at this point on a JUCO transfer. However, ...

Posted by Football_Freak on 11/21 at 6:48 pm
Unless Miles is playing super poker, He is going to double-down on playing AJ10 to prove to everyone that he gives us the best chance to win. The crap talk from Miles about AJ10 only missing 2 passes this last week is the most delusional thing he has said in his time at LSU, so you know he will look...

Rooting for the Program over rooting for the team
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/17 at 1:26 am
Ok, some people are of the mindset that no matter what, you always root for your team, as in an individual years team (like 2014, for instance). Others, look at the Program overall, and root for what is best of several seasons of time, as that is the measure of the health of a program. In that ca...

Zero Accountability - Miles is immune and will never change
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/16 at 8:34 pm
EVERYONE with any sense of trend recognition knows that once Miles selects his man at QB, it will take something beyond obvious to get him to change his mind on the matter. Some delusional types will ignore this truth, but that is what the term homer was invented to address. Miles has an ego p...

Miles and LSU: Two Critical Questions
Posted by Football_Freak on 11/10 at 9:13 am
The game has changed. Saban, Freese and the other SEC Coaches kmow this. Miles does not realize that a once-in-a-blue moon form of a major defense (2011) allowed his formula to contend in the SEC. That defense was as close to an NFL defense as you will see, with the possible exception of the awesome...
