re: 2013 NFL Draft -- Saints Mock Draft Compliationquote: with the shallow list of QB's set to be free agents this year, I think their chances of getting picked in the first round are better. Reply Back to Top |
| I'm kinda the opposite. I think there's a much larger than usual group of veteran QBs that will be available. Not all free agents but highly likely to get moved. Including: Alex Smith- my KC guess for pick #63 Michael Vick- could or could move on from Philly Matt Flynn- if not traded will be cut at $5.25million Matt Moore Jason Campbell Tim Tebow Tavaris Jackson Chase Daniel UFA again too Reply Back to Top |
| Alot of miles on these guys. It took years for Smith playing for one team to finally become...average so if KC is smart they go for franchise QB next year and work on lines this year. The only other QB I would think possible to be a long term starter is Flynn but I'm not selling the house for him. Its just a bad year on paper to be needing a #1 QB. | hard to know what will happen with Vick. That new offense with the Eagles coached by Chip Kelly might be the perfect fit for him. But the thing with Vick is, if the Eagles do let him go, would a team really want to bring him in as their starter? He has been knocked around the last few years and suffered multiple concussions. I think Flynn could be a decent QB but we haven't seen enough of him to really know. Everybody (mainly MSB posters) laughed when he couldn't win the starting job in Seattle but we all ended up seeing why he didn't get it. Russell Wilson looks to be totally legit. I just feel like Flynn had that one awesome game against the Lions in that season finale a few years ago and there was some overreaction. I mean the Lions secondary hasn't been that good in awhile and its not like Green Bay doesn't have some solid WR's. This post was edited on 2/7 at 12:35 pm Reply Back to Top |
| for my GMing the weak class is why I'd go Smith as a filler- especially with a #1 overall. Oh, forgot Matt Cassel too. I think he's destined to be a clipboard holder- though I don't think they do that much anymore. Colt McCoy could be another adequate backup. Flynn as a free agent to compete wouldn't be bad. Have a vet filler and take someone like Nassib with a 3rd rder I've been kinda liking EJ Manuel. Like how Hicks looked like a Saints type player-pick to me last year, Manuel is someone I could see the saints taking 4th Rd if he was available. He could be developed into a legit QB IMO. Kinda like the Pats took Mallett in the 3rd Rd in 2011. Reply Back to Top |
| Living in P'cola I've seen plenty of EJ. very smart and underated as a athelte. Seems to have all the tools in making the throws neede in NFL just never put in a consistent year. Maybe good coaching and stability will make a starter of him. Good kid. Could be a find. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I wouldn't put it past the Bills to nab him the mid rounds. Doug Marrone was his coach at Syracuse. Why not bring in a QB to compete with Fitzpatrick? This post was edited on 2/7 at 12:33 pm Reply Back to Top |
| similarly we could do a Grantham and Jarvis Jones-John Jenkins-Ogletree-Rambo-Kwame Geathers kinda deal Reply Back to Top |
| would be praying for Jarvis Jones and Rambo out of that bunch. I like Ogletree but it looks like we MIGHT already be set at inside linebacker. I know Vilma has lost a step but he could rotate with Hawthorne This post was edited on 2/7 at 12:42 pm Reply Back to Top |
| yeah, was just noting that is a large number of GA players that could go pretty early Adding Kiper Mock 2.0 1 Kansas City Chiefs Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M 2 Jacksonville Jaguars Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M 3 Oakland Raiders Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah 4 Philadelphia Eagles Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama 5 Detroit Lions Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia 6 Cleveland Browns Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State 7 Arizona Cardinals Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan 8 Buffalo Bills Alec Ogletree, LB, Georgia 9 New York Jets Dion Jordan, OLB/DE, Oregon 10 Tennessee Titans Barkevious Mingo, OLB/DE, LSU 11 San Diego Chargers Johnathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina 12 Miami Dolphins Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee 13 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Manti Te'o, MLB, Notre Dame 14 Carolina Panthers Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri 15 New Orleans Saints Shariff Floyd, DT, Florida passing on Hankins and Ansah Ogletree and Cooper are the two out of those i disagree with most for value/draft position. I'm thinking at least one team will take a QB before #15 too. You have to go back 13 years to find the first QB taken below #3- Pennington at #18. Reply Back to Top |
| Seems pretty high for Cooper, considering he's a guard and Warmack has been considered the #1 guard. But then again, I know nothing about Cooper. This would be a pretty bad draft for us having Mingo, Jordan, Jones, and Ogletree all go top 10. quote: Please let this happen. This post was edited on 2/7 at 1:05 pm Reply Back to Top |

quote: yeah especially with Cooper. you would have to go back to 1997 for the last time a team picked a guard in the Top 15. it was the Saints, picking Chris Naeole. and yes, I'd laugh pretty hard if the Bucs picked Te'o. Reply Back to Top |
| with an opportunity to take one of the top 3 CBs I see that as an easy surefire Bucs pick They moved Talib, Eric Wright was such a bust there's a good chance he could be cut at $7.75mil in 2013. That leaves EJ Biggers and no one. Reply Back to Top |
quote: yes, I was surprised that they passed up Mo Claiborne last year myself. They are one of those teams that has a lot of money to spend in free agency. I could see them picking up a corner in FA and then taking one in the first round...maybe Jonathon Banks from Mississippi State? Reply Back to Top |
quote: First time I've seen him mocked out of the top 3. If here's even there at 10, we should be on the phone seeing what it would take to move that far up. Reply Back to Top |
| that's why ya gotta determine who is consensus in what range. Most every mock will have a player or two in the top half of Rd 1 that is outta whack. Secondly, when I peruse these and look at the pick I consider who they passed on Linked it before but THIS is a great resource to know which mockers are repuatable and know their shit 90% are prolly chaff just compiling from other lists. I try to list only the good ones and some of the bigger more recognized ones Reply Back to Top |

| have a big issue with them dropping Jarvis Jones to #17. Yes, he could fall out of the Top 5 on medical concern. I just can't see that far at all. I can't imagine Jordan over Jones if both were available also. I count them both more likely gone than available at #15- but with Jordan still being a real possibility. Reply Back to Top |
| I can't see him falling that far either. They wrote an article about his potential slide stating that some scouts are expecting a poor combine from him (being he was never a big workout guy, according to them) along with his injuries. LINK There's also an article talking about the Saints planning to let Bushrod walk on that link. If that's the case, which they may have no choice due to salary cap, to OT from Oklahoma may become a serious option at #15. This post was edited on 2/7 at 2:32 pm Reply Back to Top Refresh |
