| CC at parades Posted by KG6 I know it's illegal even with a license, but who here overlooks the law? I don't feel like I need to carry on the parade route, but sometimes we end up having to park on some pretty shady streets and I'd like to have it with me. I don't usually break the rules, but I wonder if it would be worth it. It's not like anyone ever can tell I'm carrying and I won't be drinking.  on 2/6 at 2:41 pmReply • Back to Top |

| This is actually a gray area of the law, the law prohibits carrying in "A parade or demonstration for which a permit is issued by a governmental entity" so what does that really mean? is it if you are in the parade? a spectator? does it apply to the first line of spectators, everyone in the general area? | I think it is only illegal if you are riding in the parade. I think standing in the crowd it is fine. Would be no different than carrying while walking down the street. Although this has been debated and i am not 100% sure just my opinion. Reply • Back to Top |

| I will answer the question simply. As long as you carry concealed there is no need for anyone to know about your weapon unless you need it. And if you need it, it is better to be alive and acknowledged as attempting to defend yourself or others while facing a charge of illegally carrying a gun where you should not have (especially if you have ZERO criminal history) than to be dead or live with the knowledge that you were unable to protect your loved ones. | Interesting. I was just thinking about CC and the upcoming Spanish Town parade. When I took my CCW class at Precision, I understood it to be a legal no-go at the parade, and the kicker was that if it was an official permitted parade, it would be indicated by the required amount of portable terlets. I'd like some more insight on this matter. I don't plan on drinking, but will at least have the proper legal tools on me. I do like to dress for the occasion, so to speak. ETA: I've been Google searching since I submitted this post. I also just got off the phone with a nice lady at the LSP office. IN the parade is not the same as AT the parade.
