| The perils of eating venison (Warning: toilet discussion inside) I love the stuff. We have not had beef or chicken in my house in probably 3 months and only eat store bought meat 4-5 times per year. That being said, I'm not sure my GI tract likes venison. I have no issues with wild hog, duck, or goose. Do any of yall get the venison shits? Not diarrhea but still unpleasent tarry craps with venison. If I did not know better I would think I have a GI bleed everytime I eat it. Reply Back to Top |

Posted by tenfoe on 2/6 at 9:40 am to Bleeding purple Must just be a high-protein thing. I eat deer 3-4x per week and shite like clockwork usually. I just figure any irregularity in mine is due to beer or king cake.Reply Back to Top |

| To answer the question: I dont notice it, but will on the lookout now. I have a loose shite every so often, but I haven't patterned any foods to it. Mostly whiskey shits. Reply Back to Top |
| Try to eat more roughage i.e. plant matter with you deer steak etc, etc.. to have a more regular movement. So make a salad or vegetables more often and actually eat them. Reply Back to Top |

| May be the high iron srewing with you. I know after I eat spinich of any kind I get similar results, but more greenish colored. Reply Back to Top |
| I wouldn't worry about the gi bleed until it looked like coffee grounds. High protein/low fat meat like venison does the same to me if eaten in large quantities. Reply Back to Top |
| I eat deer 2 or 3 times a week and have never really noticed any difference on the back end. Reply Back to Top |
| nope and never heard of anyone having problems with it. Reply Back to Top |
quote: not worried about GI bleed, stool just looks mealanotic. High iron content is a possibility though. FWIW: coffee ground emisis (vomit) is concerning for upper GI bleed. Stool never looks that way. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
