And he is absolutely right. What you consider immigration, is really just freedom of movement.

I've actually started to come around to this view myself.

Freedom of movement seems pretty basic to me.

As long as freedom of movement doesn't result in me paying for that movement, which it invariably will.

What is a country then?

Nothing really.

Well then you should focus your solutions on the problem (paying for the movement).

So you'd be perfectly fine with a immigrant family moving into your home then?

Why not? Illegals should have the right to go wherever they want according to you. If a countries border doesn't matter, certainly something as trivial as your door or walls shouldn't impede the immigrants movements?!

I never said that.

One of those doesn't exist. Two of those do. Care to guess which ones?

I could come around to this but the problem is that
you shouldn't be allowed to cross the border and
feast on government goodies paid for by taxpayers on day one.

The pilgrims endured some harsh consequences when they showed up.
When the Mayflower landed, no one handed them shite.

I agree. But again, the problem isn't immigration, it's the welfare.

This country is someone's property also.

Right on.

If the deal was, "hey come on in if you want but once
you get here, if you don't work, you don't eat",
immigration would naturally regulate itself.

Of course. It's a basic example of Capitalism. But, what we have now is a very state controlled aspect of life.

Well there is obviously privately owned property. Then there is gov. land. And since the citizens of a particular country pay taxes to fund the gov, its the citizens land.
