re: If we don't make a Shinn/Bower-type signing...quote: Yep. He is an elite rebounder at SF. If he can develop a decent jump shot/hit the corner 3 at a reasonable clup, he will be a very solid player. Wont know about that until next fall. I also could see them giving Vasquez a deal this summer to lock him up. 4/24 million range seems fair at this point- probably even a bit of a hometown discount Reply Back to Top |
quote: His form on his jumper is solid enough. I don't think he'll ever be an above-average outside shooter, but a 16-foot game could suffice with his other abilities. He has a somewhat slow jumper, but his release is very high and he uses a high arch, so he isn't going to get blocked. I could see his offense developing like a more athletic, slightly less consistent Brandon Bass. He seems very comfortable dribbling in the run out, but struggles in the half court. It almost seems like he overthinks it. quote: No more doubts? You know I think he can cut it. Reply Back to Top |
| ive said a few times here already that Vasquez has convinced me. even that he is a top 15 pg in the league. hell, I posted the ATH article documenting his progression to legit starting pg. I was wrong about him. and very happy to be so Reply Back to Top |
quote: I think the problem for a lot of people is we were still trying to replace Chris Paul and most people wanted another Chris Paul to replace Chris Paul (understandably) and Vasquez is just an entirely different type of player, but he's effective in different ways. I would love to see him work on a post-up game to take advantage of his size. Whereas guys like Paul can use their speed to wear him down in pursuit, he could use his size to do it physically down low. What I was and still am banging on is the "fit." I think this is the thing that our staff is doing very well based off of the San Antonio system. For a small market team, you need to ensure that your roster is greater than the sum of the parts, and that is clearly the case with a Gordon/Vasquez back court. You're seeing the same thing with the front court now. You don't need a stereotypical center, per se. You need to be able to guard a center. So, you can mix and match skills to cover defensive needs. With the pick/roll game in the NBA now, that diversified skill set is very important to any playoff success. Reply Back to Top |
| To further that point, look at your combination of Aminu with Anderson and or Lopez. Both Anderson and Lopez are guys that can nail buckets, but tend to underperform on the glass. Aminu (and Vasquez as well) picks up that slack, while they help with his lack of offensive input. Aminu also provides a long, bouncy guy that can sag into the paint and alter shots with Davis, which isn't really Lopez' or Anderson's game. That is where Aminu, if he gets more consistent, could actually fit a very important role on this roster. Reply Back to Top |

| I hope she's into open relationships, because he would have to fight off the desperate poon tang with a fricking stick if he gets married. They already flock to him. Once they see the ring, it will be like the running zombies from 28 Days Later seeing fresh meat. Reply Back to Top |
