Well, the original publication was in 1909, and was billed as a true story. Since the book itself begins after Erik's death some years after the events of the Opera house. We can assume that many years have passed. 1870 seems a reasonable time frame. Reply Back to Top
I'm one of the biggest Phantom fans out there. I listen to the entire musical several times a year and know almost all of the songs by heart. That being said, the movie was such a letdown. Singing was subpar, plot changes were weak, and it just didn't have the magical feel of the musical Reply Back to Top
But I <3 Emmy Rossum. Reply Back to Top
Emmy Rossum was a good Christine, Patrick Wilson was a good Raul, the film failed because Gerard Butler was a horrible Phantom. Reply Back to Top
I agree on Wilson, but I didn't like Rossum as Christine. Personal preference though Reply Back to Top
If I am Andrew Lloyd Webber I am looking at the success of Les Miserables and realizing that going with Joel Schumacher as a director was a bad idea. I'd push through a remake using a similar formula Tom Hooper used on Les Miserables: bigger-named cast, live singing, etc. ETA: Also...hire a better make-up artist. The "disfigured" face of the Phantom was hardly worth getting scared over. This post was edited on 1/13 at 1:06 am Reply Back to Top
