Guys, this article shed a little light on things for me, as it relates to the mass exodus of underclassmen.

Getting their "football PHD" and leaving college to make $350-450 k to help support their families in tough ecomomic times!!! I get that, but agree that the issue goes much deeper than that.

I conclude that the PRIMARY reason for this exodus is due to the current coaching staff (offensive) and putrid offensive scheme that has ranked in the mid 80's for the third year in a row.

Something has to change.....AND NOW!!!!

And you'd be wrong. For Ford, maybe, but grades have always been an issue with him. Players don't leave the wam bosom of a program like LSU because the offense struggles on third down.

How in the world did you come to that conclusion when Detillier seems to lay out a good case as to it not having to do with the coaching staff?

Detillier was a bit more diplomatic, but between the lines he's saying what you are concluding. LSU needs to change its offensive coaching and scheming if the Tigers are to get back in the hunt for the SEC championship, and beyond.

The parts of the interview you highlighted were in response to this:

Those answers had NOTHING to do with why the players left early for the NFL.

He summed this up nicely by responding to that idea point blank:

The OP is saying the two are related. They aren't.

Correction...Players don't leave the warm bosom of a program like LSU because the offense struggles on first, second and third downs. Eight 3 and outs against a Clemson defense

It really is funny. The same "fans" obsessed with Saban and what he is doing at Bama, not to mention revising history of his time and accomplishments at LSU, are the very group of people that made life in BR so difficult for Saban.

players left for money.

what we should focus on is what he said about offense. I've said for years we have to throw to tight ends and backs. not because i'm a genius, but because it's obvious. you've got 5 eligible receivers in the game at one time. it is hard for the defense to cover them all, if they are all potential targets.

ESp if your qb is immobile, you have got to throw to backs and te's.
