Tipped my climbing guide $200 one time, and I probably underpaid him. Reply Back to Top
I don't eat at restaurants that often when I'm not on the road, even then I prefer small hole in the wall places that are cheap. My work involves restaurants so If I'm getting comp'd I pretty much always tip the amount the bill would have been. When I'm just out with the family I generally tip about 30%, especially when it's Dad's treat. He's a very poor tipper, the type that has no problem dropping $100 on the meal but it's pulling teeth for him to leave $10 for the server. I've made it a habit to leave last and always throw another $20 down on top of what everyone else leaves. My dinner groups are always small so we're not racking up $800 dinner bills, but I've left $40 on $25 bills. I'll also tip larger when it's a slow night or a Mon-Wed when I know traffic is down and they pulled a crappy shift. This post was edited on 12/31 at 2:31 am Reply Back to Top

I left a tip over $750 bucks for a party that my wife and I gave my mother in law a few years back ... But we had like 70 people there. For just a regular dinner it would be around $400 or $450. Once in Napa and once last year at Commander's. This post was edited on 12/31 at 6:35 am Reply Back to Top

Biggest tip I ever paid for with my own money, not the company I work for's, was $140 or so. Biggest one I ever got was $300. Worked at a hotel once, and everyone in town was sold out. We had a room that someone checked out of after housekeeping left, and I was on night shift. Guy came in, and I told him we were sold out, he said you haven't got anything? --Been driving for 13 hours. I told him about the dirty room, and that I can't by law sell it that way. So he gives me the aforementioned $300, plus his CC for the room. And I politely told security to watch the desk and told them I'd be back in 15 mins. Reply Back to Top

$40 Biggest tip I ever got was $10..... I helped a lady load her Christmas tree on her car and tied it down for her. My wife was chit chatting with the bartender at Tropical Isle Saturday night... she asked her how many hand grenades she sells on an average night. Her answer was 700. If everyone left her a $1 tip which most do thats $700 a shift. Reply Back to Top
