The newer thing is to have the wedding ring an engagement ring be fitted together... another way for jewelry folks to make money.

It's a rock, like gold is a rock. Gold is worth money and so are diamonds cause the world says they are... but they are really just a rock...

Your point?

That dollar bill in your pocket is worth something because a lot less people agree it is worth something.

How so? You already have to buy a wedding band, you are just buying one that fits with the engagement ring. Or are you talking about them being soldered together? I'm having my rings soldered together(pretty common now)...doesn't cost me a penny to do so, jewelry store does it for free

And football is just a game. But people spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on attending those games for entertainment.

Or better yet, a guitar is just wood and string that makes noise. But people spend a good chunk of change on those too.

I'm super glad I didn't spend more than I did on that ring now. Too much as it is. And she Had the audacity to say something about giving it to our daughter.

That wasn't nice

If he is that's certainly nothing "new". My Mother had hers soldered together back in the 70s.

I'm already being hit up for the matching wedding band on the front side of the ring. she said it would make a good graduation present in 18 months.

I'm waiting to have mine done until right before my honeymoon in March. That way I can drop them off and they will be in their safe while I'm on my honeymoon. I'll get them redipped and cleaned as well.

If it's important enough to my SO, she gets it.

And to think she had the gall to mention me getting her a bigger diamond when we found out we were having a boy. And I would have gotten it for her too.

Wow, this thread made me bitter.

Solid plan. Congrats on the nuptials by the way. Where are you planning on honeymooning?

If you sell them as a pair its a way for the same place to make more money...

It's like a #3 meal at mcdonald's. you get the engagement ring, the wedding ring, and a pretty cardboard box it comes in.

Do what my wife did. She found some gaudy fake diamond ring at Walmart. She wears it with her wedding bands at the beach, going out, etc.

Her wedding bands were only $500 each.

The band was one of the ones that wraps around the engagement diamond with all the little pavets and such and they solder them together. It was really pretty.

Next time you find a ring that costs around $300 dollars that can play just about any song ever written.. let me know.

Some guys spend a couple grand on a ring that'll last (hopefully) several decades and that some women consider a show of love? There are some people who say you can't put a value on that.

My point is that you calling it "just a rock" is as silly as me calling football "just a game".
