re: Since Pac v Floyd Will Never Happen...quote: I only got to the bar in time to watch the last two undercard fights. I thought both of them were exciting, especially the second one. Gamboa is one my favorite fighters. Reply Back to Top |

quote: there are two explanations for you feeling this way: 1) you've watched a couple boring fights and made a bad extrapolation about the sport in general 2) you just haven't watched enough MMA to understand what is going on and appreciate what the fighters are doing when they grapple Reply Back to Top |
quote: To me there's nothing uglier than two unskilled guys slowly bashing each other in the face. I love a skilled boxing match but there's nothing uglier than two guys who are past their prime or just unskilled slowly converting each other into lobotomy patients Reply Back to Top |
Posted by Ysebaert on 12/11 at 1:38 am to UFownstSECsince1950 Boxing is more of a legit sport than MMA. I've followed MMA from it's beginning and appreciate the skill and dedication involved. The thing is....I would never attend a MMA event and I like to attend boxing matches. The douchebaggery element is just too prevelant in MMA. Kind of like people from Central ya know....just straight up douche bags....except on a global scale. I guess I'm just a traditionalist. In other words out dated. Professional boxing is in a sad state of affairs and just keeps getting worse.Reply Back to Top |
quote:yes, clearly the douchebag element is not present in boxing whatsoever..... you were saying Reply Back to Top |
quote: Ah, the typical reply from the MMA hipster. "you just dont' understand MMA". Love it. I've watched enough MMA to understand what is going when they're grappling. And this changes not the fact that (1) when viewed live it is difficult to follow what is going on from anywhere other than basically ringside seats, and (2) there is nothing exciting about watching a guy try for five minutes to go from side mount to full mount. Nothing at all. Reply Back to Top |

quote: And just so that we're clear, I've watched tons of MMA. I had a roommate who loved the stuff, and so I ended up watching it all the time. I don't think MMA sucks at all -- I would pay good money to see Silva and GSP fight. I just don't think MMA makes for a very good live viewing experience. And I generally think boxing is a better sport.* *I used to box, and so this will likely never change. Reply Back to Top |
