| Ali was better at making people believe he was the best Reply Back to Top |
| I would like to have seen what tyson would have become had he not become involved with some of the people he did business with. Reply Back to Top |

| Was around for all of them, and there was nobody badder than Tyson in his prime/thread. Reply Back to Top |
| Lennox and Foreman shouldn't be in anyone's top 3. Ali, Joe Louis, and maybe Jack Johnson at 3. Reply Back to Top |
| Greatest career or greatest talent? Career: Ali, Rocky Marciano, Jack Johnson/Joe Lewis Talent: Ali, Tyson (although he wasted most of it, he had the talent hands down), Larry Holmes Reply Back to Top |
| Tyson has to be top 3 Reply Back to Top |
| one has to define "greatest." If you go by record, i would think it is Marciano---only undefeated heavyweight boxer----or the one with the most wins versus zero losses. on the other hand, i think "greatest" takes into account more than just record. another thing to consider, is greatest mean at one particular time, or over a period of time? | I found it really difficult to make a top three list. Too many styles and eras to compare. How do you compare Marcianos undefeated career against someone in the 70's or 80's? Reply Back to Top |
quote:I agree with this. People let their personal opinions of Ali cloud their judgement. Joe Louis did get beat by a couple of white dudes though. I never saw Ali in a fight, but I saw Tyson in many. He was merciless. There is a reason why Buster Douglas beating him is the greatest upset of all time. I don't know what happened to him by 1995 but Evander Holyfield making him his bitch has tainted Tyson's legacy. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I agree with this. Both had great careers, but aren't even close to top 3 material. Reply Back to Top |
| Tyson had a legit shot of being the GOAT. RIP D'Amato Reply Back to Top |
