| American Express Cards Posted by CajunRevolution I've been told these are the best cards to use if you're going to have a charge card or credit card. Does anybody have any experiences with the travel perks? Any cons? Are they worth paying a fee to have? Thanks. Reply Back to Top |
| Well, they charge the most to vendors as far a processing fees go, so frick those guys. This post was edited on 12/7 at 3:23 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: So that's how they make their money. Gotcha. I was wondering about that. I mean, it seemed like they were just fronting money for people to pay off every month. LOL. Makes sense now. Reply Back to Top |
| I do know they protect consumers well. I have one..and I use it primarily for business in lieu of the company card I've been provided. The AMEX points are nice as they don't expire. I've had to do charge backs on issues before..AMEX was easy to work with on that. Reply Back to Top |
| Many, many places now only accept visa mastercard and discover due to AMEX's high charges to them. I would personally not get an Amex because there's probably not a ton of places you can even use it. Reply Back to Top |
| They are always doing cool shite like this: LINK I have the Delta Platinum. Fee is like $150 if i recall but you get a buy one get one free on Delta and no check bag fees and get to board before everyone. Also you get the general AMEX stuff like 90 days accidental damage. Drop that laptop within 90 days? Replaced for free. Also you get double warranty on purchases up to a year. So that iPhone you just bought has two years total. Reply Back to Top |

| I recently got rid of all my Credit Cards because theyre pretty much the devil. I was looking at getting a AMEX Gold Rewards card. Supposed to give you alot of points for travel and I've seen a few posters talk about all the free travel they get of their rewards card. Just wondering if it was worth it cause I could filter everything through that card. Get travel points. Profit. Reply Back to Top |

quote: That's what I do. I've amassed 250,000 Delta Skymiles since 2005. Would be stupid not to get a card with good rewards. Just make sure you find a card that offers you something in return close to that annual fee. The Dela Platinum made sense because a) we usually fly delta, b) bag fees waives, and c) using buy one get one free we always book a flight more than the $150 annual fee would have been. Like a $300 flight to NYC. Reply Back to Top |

quote: a) travel perks b) warranty/accidental damage c) You're dealing with American Express rather than Chase/Cap One through Visa/MC. I've have fraud issues on my AMEX and my Chase and I would say my experience handing the bull shite was 10000x better with AMEX. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I think the fee on this one is $175 after the first year. I just applied and was approved for the AMEX Gold Premier Rewards card. No fee for the first year which is what drew me to it. There seems to be triple points on groceries and gas which is where I'll be racking up points. This post was edited on 12/7 at 3:35 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: Perfect! Love me some rewards. I charge my rent to my Amazon.com card (don't take AMEX) and pay it off immediately just to get points. Free shite from Amazon! Reply Back to Top |
| I have AMEX Blue Cash Everyday because i dont spend enough to justify paying a annual fee. Put if i got an annual fee card i would definetly get a AMEX Blue Cash Preferred. $75 annual fee, 6% cash back at u.s. stand-alone supermarkets (up to $6000 then 1% after that) 3% cash back at u.s. stand alone gas stations 3% cash back at department stores So i think if you spend like $50/ week on groceries it would pay for itself. eta- didnt see the travel perks part so my post is useless. | Actually its double points and triple points on airfare. I don't travel so much so that sucks but hell, who knows. Reply Back to Top |

| Your card would probably be more practical but I wanted a Charge Card, as to avoid every going into CC debt again. This seemed like the most advantageous. The Platinum with its $450/yr didnt seem worth it to me. I'm looking for an excuse to travel and if I can rack up points through my everyday crap...so be it. Reply Back to Top |
| i have the platinum i dont fly much, but i easily drink $500 in drinks in the few times i do a year. free bags is nice too Reply Back to Top |
