O'Donnell's in Ponchatoula Recs Posted by 4LSU2 Wife and I are going out with another couple tomorrow nigh to this joint. The reservations were originally for Sal and Judy's, but were switched at the other couples' request. Neither of us have been and were looking for some recommendations. TIA. Reply Back to Top
I kinda figured it wasn't worth a shite. Thanks for the responses. Reply Back to Top
As long as they have a liquor license, you will be fine. Reply Back to Top
It is supposed to be a steak house and boasts "Fine Dining" on a standard google search. The problem is that one really can't view a menu on-line. Their webpage must've been created about the time Uncle Gore invented the world wide web. I will most likely have a few bottles of their best Berringer. Reply Back to Top

She only pretends to get frustrated with 4's antics......it's a front, she loves it. Reply Back to Top
I ate their a few years back and it was pretty good. The gumbo was spot on, and I had the seared duck breast which I enjoyed. Reply Back to Top

Take pics for the review. Pic threads are quite popular around here lately. Reply Back to Top
I am anxiously awaiting your review of this place tonight. Reply Back to Top
Can't remember where Chef Phil O'Donnell worked before but I think it may have been Jacmel Inn that everyone raves about. I've only had the steak there and they are excellent. One of those little "hole in the wall" places that you'll love. Reply Back to Top

That place was on that health inspector show, on food network the other night. Their kitchen was straight up nasty! The chef refused to wear a hair net on his zztop beard. LINK Staged or not, I don't see how anyone would want to be on that show, seems like horrible advertisement. Reply Back to Top

Food was good. Service was autrocious. The server had no clue what the night's specials were and had to resort to his cheat board to complete his spill. We ordered with an order of the crab cakes and BBQ shrimp. After 4 drinks, the appetizers came 90 minutes after we placed the appetizer order. Apps were good, but the wait was ridiculous. We then placed our salad and main course order. 3 drinks later, the staff placed chilled silverware on the table for a salad experience like no othere. By the time the salads arrived, humidity took over, and the silverware was hotter than a $2 pistol. The onion vinagerette dressing was good, but the wait was absurb. 2 and 1/2 hours after we sat down to eat, the main dishes arrived. My ribeye was cooked fine (medium rare), wife had the medium filet. I had a potato/ andouille concoction, she had asparagus and a potato medley of sorts. The waiter had the perception of having been let out of GB Cooley just prior to his shift. The manager was from Marrero and that speaks for itself. There was no talent on the clock whatsoever for a fella to gawk at, and the restroom area has a huge traffic bump in front of it that tends to throw a drunk fella off of his game. All in all, good times (Blues Man on jukebox) good food, but beyond shitty service. $150 down the pipe and we are home to tell about it. Reply Back to Top
