| Do you think Payton gets more than $10m a year? Posted by THRILLHO I'm thinking he does, partly because Dallas will drive his price up. But he'll get it, and it will be the Benson signing his paycheck. Bill Belichick is the highest paid coach in the NFL at an estimated $7.5m (no one knows the details outside of the organization, some suspect he's over that). Six others (including Payton, previous to the voided deal) are at $7m. Jerry will open his wallet up, so the Saints need to take advantage of the early negotiations. Will Benson be willing to be the first to officially break the $10m mark? I'd say not only yes, but that it's a no brainer. In 2008, Benson gave the OK to give Will Smith a 6yr/$60m deal. Benson is worth more now than he was then. Is there any doubt that Payton is more valuable than Will Smith? Benson is old as frick, but he's not stupid. Sorry for the stupid post, I'm fringe drunk on cheap wine and NOLA Blonde. Reply Back to Top |

| Benson would be an idiot to pay Payton $10m a year. Payton got his arse suspended for the year and now the team is starting to fall apart. (I predict two more straight loses). Brees, while a great QB, is obviously not as great without SP on the sidelines. But because Payton got his arse suspended, he's not. So Mr. Benson, don't pay that a-hole one dollar more than what he AGREED TO AND SIGNED before. Reply Back to Top |

quote: You answered your own question Belichick is a 3 time SB winner, 5 time AFC winner, 10 + wins every year. Sean Payton just got suspended for the entire year, and while an excellent coach is nowhere close to being in the same stratosphere as BB Dallas or not, FA or not, no chance Payton comes close to that kind of money. | 8 million maybe, but not $10 mill Reply Back to Top |

quote: quote: So the Saints clearly are struggling without him, but he's not worth a penny more than what he was worth before? Hey, remember that time you said Brees was greedy for not taking less money like other elite QB's have, then I called you out on it in another thread, then you said you never said it, then I gave you a link to exactly where you said it, then you never responded to my post? That was awesome. Plus you're a cunt. Reply Back to Top |
| Pay him 12 million IDGF Reply Back to Top |
quote: BB has 6 years of coaching on Payton. While unlikely to get two more SBs, I don't think one more in the next 6 years is out of the question for Payton. Plus BB signed his extension in 2007. If you haven't noticed from the escalating player contracts, the NFL is making more money. Even if they were equals, Payton would get more today than BB did in 2007. | I would be elated to have him make $20 mil per year But he's not getting more than BB...period. And let's say for the sake of argument he does, it won't be double digits per Reply Back to Top |
| wouldnt Dallas have to fire Garrett to really drive the price up? will they risk firing him & maybe or maybe not being able to get Payton? i also hear Garrett has a nice buyout. And he is also a jerry jones "guy" Reply Back to Top |
quote: He was making $7m before, and BB is reportedly making $7.5m/yr. Are you that fricking daft to think Payton's value hasn't gone up $500k/yr since this season started? Reply Back to Top |
quote: Hope so. Overpaying before he hits the market could end up being a bad business decision, but that's a Tom Benson problem, not a Saints one. Reply Back to Top |
| Daft? You're asking if SP gets 10 mil a year Reply Back to Top |
| Maybe you want to say it's not a contradiction but it's a gigantic flaw in logic. If Brees isn't that good without Payton, as you say, it makes no sense to be so willing to let go of Payton. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Funny, that's pretty much what you said last time. LINK summation: 1) You say Brees was greedy because he didn't take a pay cut like other elite QBs have 2) I prove to you that no other elite QB has actually done this, only converted base salary to a signing bonus to save the team money in that year only 3) you make the same claim about Brees in another thread 4) I call you out again on it 5) You call bullshite 6) I link to the OP showing how big of a cunt you are This post was edited on 11/30 at 1:53 am Reply Back to Top |
quote: So you think it's more likely that he gets a new contract that pays him exactly what he was getting before than it is for him to make $10m/yr? Are you incapable of understanding the concept of inflation? Belichick was worth ~$7.5m five years ago. Do you really think it's absurd to theorize that a coach that is close to his equal is worth more money today? Reply Back to Top |
quote: I would be offended if you weren't so hilariously stupid. No one fricking knows what BB makes, no one. So you can stop being a dick because you were stupid enough to even think SP would get 10 per. Lol @ you quote: Where did I say this? Does 10 come after 7? Maybe you think I take your estimation of BB's contract at face value? Maybe you're too stupid to realize RK is going to make sure BB is the highest paid coach? quote:I never said Brees was greedy because he didn't take a pay cut...never. You implied I said it but I never did. Fail on your part...cunt. quote:I never said other QB's took pay cuts; what I said was that other QB's have restructured their contracts to help out their team. You're putting words in my mouth that I never said...cunt. summation: You simply made assumptions as to what I meant and because you are a stupid cunt, you failed miserably.
