The need for a big tall WR is more evident every game.

The score board looks good this morning, but whats happens if Miss State completes the pass instead of the Loston pickoff ?

Then get's the onside kick and score's again ?

It could happen one day.

So you're saying that IF our defense didn't make the play....and IF our opponent scored...and IF our opponent gets an onside kick that everyone is expecting...and IF our opponent scored again....somehow a tall reeiver could have prevented that?????

I say IF we had a bigger water boy, we would have converted that 4th and 12 fake FG against Bama. Deal with that shite.

We need to recruit a big, tall WR like it is its own position. The way that the game is played today, you have to have one of your top 3 WRs be a guy who can go up and get the ball in the Red Zone. Just like you need a FB or OT or FS, you need a tall WR, especially for the Red Zone - and we also need a pass catching TE.

Not necessarily. You need a WR that can get open. PERIOD. The Steelers are 1 of the better teams in the NFL when it comes to passing and their tallest WR is 6'0. Jarvis went up and got the ball on that TD vs Bama. Hes not 6'4. You dont need a big guy if you have players than know how to get open and a QB that knows when and where to put the ball. O and in regards to Terrance Toliver, he was 1 of the more overrated players weve had in the past few years. Played good against UF and good against TAMU in the Cotton Bowl. That was his entire career.

We also have a 6'6 pass catching TE. When he plays he looks great, but for some reason he doesnt see the field that much.

This "big tall WR" obsession is kinda silly.
How did it get started?

Yes, well done, sir.
There are some very good tall receivers.
Some others are not,but have other assets.
How did the big tall WR become the panacea for all LSU's offensive woes, so as to capture the imagination of come posters here?
At times, an accurate, mobile QB would have seemed more useful.
At times, a WR who couold reliably catch would have seemd more useful than one who was fat, skinny, tall, short, muscualr...

I totally agree. Id take a Josh Reed type WR over an over-rated Toliver any day of the week. Actually, if you look at big WRs that are big time recruits, most of them are over-rated every year. They get rated that high because their 6'4 playing against 5'9 slow CBs in high school. When they get to college and play legit CBs, they disappear because in high school they rely on their size and dont worry about technique, route running, run blocking, etc. There are some that pan out, but for the most part the tall WRs rated very high in high school are over rated. It really doesnt matter how tall they are. I only care if they can play.
