re: Anyone think the coaches are a bit clueless when it comes to Shepard?quote: from what i'm told, he did this to himself… evidently, he gets down on himself for not seeing the field, and that leads him to not practicing "hard" or as well as the other guys ahead of him… i'm with everyone else…. the guy obviously has/had talent, so why not use it? dunno, but i'm just telling y'all what i've been told... | if the coaching staff would come to the rant to capture the wisdom on how to coach their team all would be well Reply Back to Top |
| He obviously needs to be a DE. Reply Back to Top |
| No. I'd like to see him get more touches but to call the coaches clueless, no. Reply Back to Top |

| the problem with RS is that he has been beat out at every position. first was qb; he was beat out. then rb; he was beat out. then wr; he was beat out. he was also beat out as a returner of punts and kick offs. he's a great guy and i wish him well. but why should the coaching staff play him over other players that are better than he is. because some of the ranters know more than they do? gimme a break. the young man should get his degree and enter the business world; a place where he can earn money from his greatest strength and that is leadership. | it happens all the time when people are put in positions they never played before but i just think hes one of those twinners maybe db would of been a better position with time for him but who knows Reply Back to Top |

| I think the coaches are professionals, the fans are clueless Reply Back to Top |

quote:Who the fans? Fans and professional coaches both make mistakes. What's your point? Reply Back to Top |
quote: Perhaps this would have worked at another school in the college level but He could never be a QB in the NFL. I think that has something to do with him switching to WR JMO Reply Back to Top |
quote: So you agree a mistake could have been made by the coaching staff with Russell Shepard. Good talk Reply Back to Top |
| They're terrible at using him, they went from trying to throw him deep bombs (that he can't catch well) to running him up the middle like a running back (that he weights 30-50 pounds less than). You have to look at sproles/DeSean Jackson/Harvin/etc for examples of how to use that guy, and they failed miserably at that. Reply Back to Top |
quote:You asked if the coaches were clueless, not if they made any mistakes. Did you mean to ask "Anyone think the coaches are human?" All I said was: no, the coaches aren't clueless - fans are clueless. Any fan with any sense would have to admit that they are totally clueless regarding any LSU player in comparison to professional collegiate coaches who see the player every day at practice and review every play the player plays in every game on the coaches game tape. Since these fans, even if they are professional coaches themselves (stuck coaching at a lower level through no fault of their own I'm sure), are not privy to all that information, they would be the clueless ones, not the LSU coaches. Wouldn't you agree? Reply Back to Top |
| not necessarily.... The problem as I see it is that we try to make players FIT into a position that we think they should fit and we do not develop talent for them to be all they can be. Are there exceptions ? surely, but when I look around at the talent of QBs and receivers from even smaller conferences, some are doing things we are not.... we coach, but we do not develop.. if a player does it on his own so be it. | Shep has been terribly misused, that doesn't mean he should have been a superstar. if you don't think miles and co. has misused players, just look at keiland. we all said every year that he got screwed and then he plays for xx years in the nfl. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
