I had a buddy who got a sports management degree and interned with IMG. They ended up offering him a job and he is doing pretty well for himself right now.

You've either got to know someone or bust your arse in school to get that.

I actually know someone who interned over there as well. He really started networking as soon as he got to college and made friends with all the football players. I think he's doing some graduate program up in Chicago now.

What degree programs does your community college offer?

It's not really a community college. I think it's actually the biggest feeder school into UGA for people to get their core done and then transfer. I'm pretty sure the 4 year degrees they offer are like elementary education, computer science. Things I really don't want to do. The only reason I'm going here is because of Hope scholarship. I'm pretty much getting my core done for free. I'm just trying to figure out what would be a good next step to take.

Thanks for the help guys

I actually had 3 friends graduate with a sports management degree.

1 works for Marucci and has a legit position (he started as an intern a year and a half before he graduated and worked his way up).

1 works for Enterprise rent-a-car

1 is taking a year off and doing a Teach for America-type deal in Europe.

you could do like some said and go the agent route or try to work your way up through an athletic dept. Be prepared to bust your arse to find a job (they all want experience) and get ready to not make shite for a while...

That's what sparked this question. I've quickly discovered that they only hire people with prior experience.

I was coming into this thread to post have fun working at Enterprise.

I can't say much though, I'm scared to death about finding a job when I graduate.

I'm not far off track for a business degree. It's pretty much the same stuff at the point I'm at.

honestly, that is what I would recommend you do...get a more widely accepted degree and then tack on enough stuff to get a minor or even a double major...after all of that sweat and cash, the last thing you want to do is not be able to get a job...

believe what you want, if a degree can't provide additional income above what you would make without it, then it makes no sense to get it...all of that idealistic shite about doing what you really love just goes out the window when you have a family depending on you...

Go trade school...Plumbing or Electrician. You'll always have lots of friends and a good living.

What kind of entry-level jobs does this degree correlate to?

Ticket taker at a minor league ballpark.

Don't be too pushy about what's in ladies' purses and you'll be fine.
