Help with sports management degree
Posted by GeorgiaTide on 10/8 at 8:17 pm
I just changed my major from general studies to sports management so my associates degree will have some meaning to it. The school I'm at now has pretty limited degree options so I picked the one that sounded the most interesting to me. What kind of entry-level jobs does this degree correlate to? I've looked all over the Internet and haven't really found much info on it.

Maybe law school and become a sports agent?

Work in the athletics dept and eventually an Athletic Director?

or D) Know someone/have a family member in the business

don't waste your time with that shite. if you only want a 2 year degree then do a trade.

Easier said that done... VERY difficult to crack into the world of sports agency.

Yea, it'd help to already be in with the athletes at your school.

Especially if you were at an SEC school.

Unless you do internships (mostly unpaid), get to know people, or both it'll be tough to get a good job

I figured an associates wouldn't do much. I mean would it be worth pursuing a bachelors in that or sports administration? I'm planning on transferring after finishing my associates.

What degree programs does your community college offer?

My sister has that degree and works at a University doing programming. The only sports job she held was managing a fitness center.

I did the exact same thing. I got my associates in general studies then my bachelors in sports management.

I work offshore now

you could do like some said and go the agent route or try to work your way up through an athletic dept. Be prepared to bust your arse to find a job (they all want experience) and get ready to not make shite for a while...

Pick a major that will get your foot in a door for a real career.
