re: Name The Top 3 Liberal or Conservative Policies That Killed the U.S.quote: quote: quote: Ok guys, I know I'm getting off of the original topic, but I had to respond. I was a single parent (my son is now 24). My ex-husband deserted my son and I one week prior to his 1st b-day. I raised him by myself, WITHOUT government assistance, working minimum wage jobs in the beginning. I eventually worked my way (and not by sleeping with the boss, haha) into a job that was much more than minimum wage when he reached junior high. I made certain that he knew how much I loved him, taught him how to set goals and was supportive of his ideas. (He and I also learned how to build a mean pinewood derby car together, lol.) I had a blast being a mom...and dad. I said all of that to say this, it can be done. My son is a very responsible young man. He has some college, but currently serves in our nation's military and is in Afghanistan (due to come back to the states in less than 30 days, yay). I realize that a home with both parents can be better for a child, but to say that a single parent household is inadequate, well that's not entirely correct. IMO Reply Back to Top |

quote: So let me get this straight, Jesus is now upset at the United States due to the omission of God from an official political party platform. Was Jesus not upset at Jim Crow? Was Jesus not upset at our wars? Was Jesus not upset at the institution of slavery? Was Jesus not upset at the treatment of the Native Americans? Or is Jesus just now upset, in 2012, that that same country has the audacity to not mention the creator of the universe? Talk about kooky nonsense. Reply Back to Top |
quote: The bible never condemns slavery... it is irrelevant to the conversation but worth noting. FWIW, I agree with you. Most Christians claim they want their government to be more Christ-like yet they womanize, booze it up, neglect their families, and idolize money. Our government is only a reflection of its' people. quote: That was my point. The whole "we want a Christian nation" and "God is mad at America" is just political posturing. Reply Back to Top |
| Conservatives: 1. Abondoning a non-interventionist foreign policy in the 60's. 2. Ignoring science and letting the evangelical right play a larger role. 3. Compromising on huge expansions of government such as the great society, new deal, and others. Liberals: Too much to list. Reply Back to Top |
