Posted by Jahel on 10/5 at 2:30 pm Think about what your Father gave to you, and what you are giving to your son. you got: Crime Free neighborhoods Two Parent Home/Family Good Schools #1 economy Highest paying jobs low cost education low cost health care etc,etc,etc...list goes on Now you felt guilty and whatnot for all the treasures that you inherited, and that's great for your conscience and all. But I am just wondering if you feel that destroying everything that was worth it? Did you get what you are wanting me and my generation to pay for? Reply Back to Top |
| we are reaping what we sowed with the democratic party in power for most of the last century. All those promises made with no way to pay for them. Reply Back to Top |
| is it the fault of the old white people accepting the goods promised by the old white politicians or is it the fault of the old white politicians giving the old white people something they couldn't refuse... also, i think it is more then just the old white people who accepted the goods promised..... | Interesting take, J; but I don't understand the "destroying everything" part. There are a ton of cultural and technological dynamics that have created the current scenario. A lot of them out of us old folks hands. Indeed, I would have loved for progeny to enjoy the same life circumstances that I had...but alas...things change. Still, if you took my advice and read the book "Abundance"...then your description of "destroying", might not be so cynical. The sky is the limit for this bunch. My group simply took the ball and ran with it as far as we could. Now, it's time for the next group to run. Reply Back to Top |
| Why are you singling out white people, racist much? Reply Back to Top |
| Whose fault is it when the fish gets caught? The fisherman or the fish? FWIW (I am 45), I am setting up both myself and my son with as much financial stability as possible. I have never planned on using anything the government offered for retirement purposes (SSI, Medicare, etc.). My Dad taught me long ago not to expect any of that crap to last. Reply Back to Top |

Unfortunately our generation will have this photo to show where it all went off the rails. ![]() Reply Back to Top |
| Seeing that photo of LBJ drives home the fact that the election next month is every bit as critical as the one in 1964. Reply Back to Top |

But then you see that you'd eat at all 300 of the smaller city restaurants(Chains, TGIF, Chili's, Appebee's), but only 200 of the Bigger city restaurants (only 200 have menu's in Engrish)...you see that while there's "More"...you actually have less. quote:All of us. This isn't any politician, or party's fault. It's our collective character atrophy. Character no longer matters. Haven't you heard? Politicians are just giving us what we (the collective) ask for. More government. More free stuff. It's our OWN greed that's to blame. Reply Back to Top |

quote: We didn't "take" from anybody. I started helping my dad milk cows at 4am in the morning, before I started grade school. Just filled up the buckets with feed, but it helped. There were a lot more good jobs back then, because the US was the primary manufacturing base in the world. Europe and Japan were cleaning up the pieces after war, and China was on the verge of starving due to their 'cultural revolution'. I.e., Socialist war. A lot of this group is LAZY, pure and simple. I see it in my own family. It just works that way when you can lay on the couch and play game or watch the tube, instead of going out in the cold rain a 4 in the morning to work. You're whinning. Buck up...and if something is wrong...compete with it and fix it. Instead of trying to vote the fruits of someone else's labor into your own pocket. This generation will get what it earns and deserves. Period. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
