| I made no statements to support Jindal, as in fact I dislike his politics and insider deals with his friends and cronies like almost every other Louisiana politician in history. The fact remains that LA and the rest of the country have been living beyond our fiscal means and this has to be reigned in one way or another. We could close a ton of state offices, programs, colleges, etc. and have a much more streamlined state government but it simply hasn't proven to be in the cards for Louisiana due to a variety of factors. Perhaps the greatest legacy of Huey Long is the huge size of LA state government and the lack of will for the population to address it. Reply Back to Top |
quote:and you thing that is going to support the entirety of Pennington? Learn how a grant works. It will be used for that study and that study only. Besides it took them over 4 years to get that grant. Pennington is in trouble. What he said is true. They have lost some incredibly smart and valuable research scientists recently. They are all moving somewhere they can get a raise. Oh and the guy who said the Math department at LSU should be shut down because computers do it all? You can't be that stupid. I'm glad you're back in school. You need it. Reply Back to Top |

quote: I don't understand cigarette smokers either but if you are so passionate about this why aren't you up in arms that they aren't illegal? Instead you declare war on the people who are sick today most of which got addicted before it was widely known how unhealthy it was. Not to mention kids who grew up in houses where there parents smoked and are probable going to end up even sicker. Reply Back to Top |
| This is why I'll pursue any post graduate degree outside of LSU... The state gov. has been fricking it up more and more ever since I got here. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Bullpoopoo. We've known the health risks of smoking for over 50 years and have had warning labels on smokes for over 40 years. Most of those who started smoking "before it was widely known how unhealthy it was" have already died or quit. Reply Back to Top |
