| Jindal shutting down LSU hospital system in order to privatize it Posted by MrLSU This could have a massive negative effect on LSU's medical school and its ability to attract top flight talent from out of state. These hospitals were widely known as some of the best training grounds in the US. The plan includes the following reductions: -LSU Interim Hospital in New Orleans: $49.1 million, 423 jobs cut. -Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge: $38.7 million, 341 jobs cut. -W.O. Moss Regional Medical Center in Lake Charles: $10.9 million, 64 jobs cut. -Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center in Houma: $14.4 million, 245 jobs cut. -Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center in Independence: $5.2 million, 95 jobs cut. -University Medical Center in Lafayette: $22.4 million, 173 jobs cut. -Bogalusa Medical Center: $11.1 million, 146 jobs cut. quote: lol. Basically all LSU med students are from in state. And the only residency program that is considered really good at LSU is Emergency Medicine. And we don't have the money to pay for this shite. Make a choice, cut hospitals or raise your taxes. Reply Back to Top |
| Will that effect uninsured people who would have used it when seriously ill? Reply Back to Top |
| They will be shutting down all of the LSU Hospitals down next year including Shreveport. Reply Back to Top |

quote: no, those people can go to any hospital they want. No hospital will kick you out if you are seriously ill. Reply Back to Top |
| You are complaining about government shrinking? Privatizing does not mean losing jobs. Reply Back to Top |
quote:This is the part I'm worried about. Obviously I'm biased but does he have a plan? You have three medical schools in this state and you cut residencies? How the hell do you decided that's a good idea? Reply Back to Top |
quote: How about we cut State agencies, cut welfare, tear down ghettos. I'd rather pay to keep the LSU hospital open than to have shaquanda buying flat screens and rims. Reply Back to Top |
quote:no, it's not. Reply Back to Top |
quote: we complain about welfare but that is a very small part of the budget. Healthcare and education are the huge pieces of the pie. Reply Back to Top |
