quote: Do any places in Baton Rouge carry Terrapin? Reply Back to Top |
quote: Agreed. No flavor. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Nope, Terrapin doesn't distribute here yet. I had my parents look for it last weekend when they were in Destin, but no luck there either. Reply Back to Top |
quote: The Blue Moon would be good for someone who is scared to try a pumpkin ale. It was okay, but nothing special. It had the spice flavor but not the pumpkin taste I was looking for. Reply Back to Top |
| So has anyone tried the WoodChuck Pumpkin Cider?? Reply Back to Top |
quote: Yes. It's different. It's got a funky aftertaste. I guess i came in expecting a beer, and i got a cider with pumpkin, which is just a strange flavor. Overall, not a big fan. I don't believe i'm a pumpkin beer fan. I loved my pumpkin beer i brewed, and pumpkinator is simply amazing, but every other pumpkin brew i've had, i don't like. Wasatch = too much spice not enough pumpkin Shipyard = same Brooklyn Post road = same, way too much spice and no pumpkin Dogfish head = a little better, but not great Sam adams fatjack = not bad. One of the better pumpkins i had Pumpkinator = The best pumpkin ale, period. I have Southern Tier pumpking coming in, and one by Elysian brewing. Hopefully those are good. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Well, it is called a cider for a reason. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Pumking is awesome, but on the pumpkin pie end of the spectrum. Try to find weyerbacher imperial pumpkin. Thats was my favorite last year. Reply Back to Top |
| Post Road might be my least favorite Pumpkin. It's almost sour with a tang. It has little to no pumpkin flavoring. Reply Back to Top |
Had a Southern Tier Pumpking last night Easily my second favorite pumpkin beer. Finally a pumpkin beer with pumpkin and the right amount of spice. You can actually taste the pumpkin and are not overwhelmed by the spices. This is easily #2 behind Pumpkinator Reply Back to Top |
| Zea actually made one years back that was great. Every pumpkin beer I've had since is almost all spice and no pumpkin flavor. In my attempt to fix this, I have a pumpkin ale fermenting now. Decent amount of pumpkin, and very little spice. This post was edited on 10/11 at 1:13 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: very good beer. its #3 on my list behind pumkinator and weyerbacher. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I think i talked to you earlier about my pumpkin ale. I used about 3-4 cans of pumpkin, with 1 packet of pumpkin spice (recipe kit from Austin Homebrew). Came out great, except i did a shitty job carbonating it. ![]() Reply Back to Top |
| I have a bomber of Jolly Pumpkin pumpkin beer (don't remember the exact name of the beer....sounds French) that I'm saving. Might drink it around Thanksgiving or something. Hope it's good. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I grabbed a bottle last year. I don't really remember too much about it. However, i do recall being very unpleased with it. Because i kept on seeing jolly pumpkin and would wonder, why no pumpkin ales from jolly pumpkin. I tasted it, and i found out why. However, its been awhile and my beer palate has improved some, so maybe i wasn't ready for it yet, or it is just plain bad. Good luck. Reply Back to Top |
quote: They are known for sours/farmhouse/wild ales, so that could be part of your dislike for it. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I'm not really sure what this means Reply Back to Top |
quote: Ah, this was the reason then. I still can't get myself to really enjoy a sour. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
