Thoughts on Mumford & Sons Posted by RollTide1987 I'm very picky when it comes to music. I have a comfort zone that I like to stay in. I'm big into rock and I can stand a little pop, rap (if it's clean), as well as a little country (as long as it's not too "twangy"). I just recently, meaning within the last year, got into Mumford & Sons and I have to say that they are a breath of fresh air. I have yet to really listen to their second album in depth but I happen to believe that their first album is one of the better debut albums out there. Sigh No More, The Cave, Winter Winds, Roll Away Your Stone, Little Lion Man, and Thistle & Weeds are all very good songs that I could listen to all day. Reply Back to Top

They do have a very unique sound. I think I like the new album more than the first. I can get a little tired of their repetitive heavy guitar strumming rhythms after a while though. Reply Back to Top
Friend of mine plays that shite non stop and I find it annoying. Surprised they found such mainstream appeal. Really average stuff for my tastes. Reply Back to Top
I like them OK, but just find it a little sterile... I never mind it when I hear it, but would never buy it or go out of my way to see them... Reply Back to Top

I love their sound but imo they need to add some variety or no one is gonna give a shite about the next album. This post was edited on 10/1 at 1:20 pm Reply Back to Top
I'll give their second album a listen. I didn't love their first. Reply Back to Top

I'm a big fan of "Y'allternative" and pretty much anything that Paste Magazine has promoted the past few years. Mumford and Sons is pretty much that sound with the rough edges sanded down, so it makes sense they'd be the act who would have bigtime crossover appeal. I think that makes them less interesting, but they are a pretty solid band. Reply Back to Top
quote: Agreed. That second song they performed on SNL was not good IMO. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I like them. I thought they were a breath of fresh air when I first heard them. Their songs are solid musically and lyrically. I'm starting to like The Avett Brothers more lately. Reply Back to Top |

I liked them at first but I've soured on them lately Reply Back to Top
Same formula: Slow build up, big grandiose middle with heavy strumming. Songs sound almost exactly the same. Featured in Kony 2012....2/10 would not listen This post was edited on 10/1 at 6:37 pm Reply Back to Top
