| BR Farmers Market + TD.com Tailgating Throwdown | Oct. 20th Posted by LSUChicageaux The Red Stick Farmers Market & Main Street Market are hosting their annual Tailgate Throwdown on Saturday, October 20th, 2012. Sponsored also in part by TigerDroppings.com, the event benefits the Farmers Markets, which are organized by the non-profit organization BREADA. > What is it? No one tailgates like Louisianians, and this is a serious cooking competion inside of a great event, hosted by people passionate about food. It's also a chance to set up your tailgate downtown, meet local farmers and use their amazing products, compete against fellow tailgaters, and share your cooking. > Who can enter? Anyone and everyone. Individuals or teams are welcome to enter, as are businesses. > What are the rules of the competition? Teams cook the tailgating dish of their choice, and submit up to 3 different dishes. The only rule is that teams must use at least 2 ingredients from the Red Stick Farmers Market (one must be a fruit or vegetable). In addition to the judging portions, teams must provide a minimum of 200, 2 oz. bite-sized samples (dishes will be provided). Visitors to the event who purchase a Tasting Bracelet can then sample your food. > What are the prizes? Bragging rights and more...details soon! > How do I enter? The entry fee is $100/team, and there's no limit to the number of team members. Once entered, each team will receive $20 in Market tokens to shop for local ingredients with the farmers. To enter, please contact Darlene Rowland (darlene@breada.org) at 225.267.5060. Additional information and guidelines may be found at www.breada.org. I'm also happy to answer questions in the thread. Thanks and good luck! ![]() This post was edited on 10/18 at 9:27 am Reply Back to Top |

| This sounds like fun, this is also my birthday. But man, cooking three different item at 200 portions could get pricey and extensive. Reply Back to Top |

quote: I believe you're only asked to put out 200 portions total, so you can divvy that up however you want. Additionally, you can submit up to 3 dishes, but you can stick with just one. Reply Back to Top |
| If y'all want a third, count me in for sure. Reply Back to Top |

| Hey Gee, how are you? I've been busy with a new job...hope all is well with y'all. I'm thinking about putting in a team myself for the event - might serve my grillades and grits and take home the trophy. Deadline is 10/1, but I'm sure they can work you in. Reply Back to Top |

quote: Confirmation that deadline is 10/1 for entering, but they do have some room available for any teams that are interested. I'll be out there - not sure if I'll have a team because of schedule, but I'm looking forward to it. It's cool to take the family downtown on Saturday mornings anyway, and this will be fun.
