re: The ATL Thread 7/24: Braves @ Marlins I'm not saying that. We just won't have enough money to sign a SP, LF, and CF. We'll have enough money for two of those. Just not sure which two the Braves will go after. Right now, I think Bourn is gone, but it all depends on what other moves we make. Reply Back to Top

Would really like to see Bourn back. I believe I remember seeing Wren say Bourn likes playing in ATL and the FO wants to resign him. Maybe it will work out. He is definitely the catalyst As for Mac, no way they don't pick up his option Reply Back to Top
We'll definitely pick up Mac's option for next year. It's going to be tough competing against some big spending AL teams for him in free agency though. Not even sure it'd be in our best interest to resign him to a massive deal, which is likely what it'd take. Reply Back to Top

quote: Yeah, it would be shocking. It's gonna be a waste of 12 million. But our front office is paying Uggla 14 mil, so shouldn't be shocking to me they'd waste some more on a player in decline. Reply Back to Top |
I will be highly surprised if Bourn commands as much money as people think he will. It would be, simply put, unprecedented. Reply Back to Top

It's hard to envision Mac in another uniform. I could see us in a Joe Mauer type of situation. He's far from the best, but he's better than any other option out there. Couple that with the push that the Braves have been giving Mac to be the "new face of the franchise" when chipper leaves (I think Chipper even said that in an interview at some point this season). It would be hard to see Big Mac somewhere else. Is Bet ready for the majors? Reply Back to Top
I don't know if you really are retarded or you just like portraying that image. Can you link just one post by anyone that says Uggla is performing right now? Reply Back to Top

Not this year, and not next year. But he should be for 2014. Maybe 2015. Hard for me to see Mac getting inked to a long term deal right now. Reply Back to Top
Uggla just kinda is what he is. When he's hot you love him. When he's not, he's an auto-out. The price we paid to get him trade-wise made sense. The extension we gave him did not. Reply Back to Top
No, I'm just retarded Reply Back to Top
quote: While I would never directly root for mccann to struggle, him struggling this season is probably best for the Braves long term. I really dont like the idea of shelling 16mill or whatever a season towards an aging catcher. I'm sure we will cover next year and he will hit lights out and then demand 18mill/season. quote: That would be awesome. Next year needs to be our big run at a WS, with our young guys just getting more and more expensive. I hope he puts up some huge numbers, and then gets whatever money he can get. Just not from us. Reply Back to Top |
