Sushi Masa Dinner AYCE = $21.95(includes a cocktail) Reply Back to Top |
| I tipped 8 bucks on 53, it's 15 percent. I usually tip 20 % but the waitress didn't do shite. She brought me a water and the cucumber salad. Everything else was handed to me by the chef. Also, I already addressed the glutton thing. This isn't the OT, you don't have to pretend to be a baller here. This post was edited on 7/13 at 5:07 pm Reply Back to Top |
| The reason its all you can eat is because of the quality of fish they are serving, similar to Nagoya. I like them for the price but if you look closely at the Tuna on your images you will notice its a pinkish tint cut from frozen Ahi tuna blocks. If you look at Sushi Yama's Tuna, its a great deep red color, fattier tuna, and higher quality. They probably bring in whole sides of #1 Sashimi Grade Yellow or Bluefin. Just like any other food you pay for quality. Sushi Yama honestly gets some of the best Sashimi in the city, although Koto is my second go to. Reply Back to Top |
| How much was your bill and holy crap does that bottom roll look fantastic! Actually all of them look great. ETA--I made that statement because Yama is pricey. I haven't had it in quite some time. Waka is my go-to. This post was edited on 7/13 at 6:22 pm Reply Back to Top |

| Oh, I'm sure it's not A-1 like Oui, Derek Chang, and the Wongs,etc..use. But, having been to both Nagoya and Masa, many times. I don't think it's the cheaper grade Nagoya utilizes? I'd be very surprised if Nagoya's oxidizing rolls awaiting adoption out on the line, are the mere difference to Masa's? This post was edited on 7/13 at 7:21 pm Reply Back to Top |

| When I sit at the bar I tip the chefs. Not my problem if they have some silly way of splitting it up. A couple bucks for bring my sake is more than enough. And I tip way too generous. Almost to a fault. This post was edited on 7/13 at 9:42 pm Reply Back to Top |

quote: Every server in the house tips out to the sushi chefs. Some places, if the customer tips under a certain percentage, the tip out maybe waived. But if the customer pays cash and tips like shit, or not tip at all, those servers still have to tip out to the sushi chefs. Now if you are sitting at the bar, the tip out for those servers are automatically higher. So the fact that those servers don't bring you the plates from the sushi bar, well that's already factored in the tip out and your sushi chef is compensated for it. So someone sitting at the bar, not tipping the servers, paying with cash can actually cause your server to lose money. I don't think anyone should work for free. Now, you probably won't give a shite and continue to go about your ways, but I've got to at least put this information out there for the uninformed masses. Reply Back to Top |
