re: If we don't go undefeated again in the regular season...it's failurequote: This is an insight to how you've allowed this board/hype/talk/rumors to affect your view of the 2012 team and players. Mett hasn't even played one down against an opponent and you already have him forgoing the rest of his college and entering the NFL draft in 9 months. AND have no faith in LSU's stable of QB's in a year. I think what is harsh is the "failure" part of your heading and that is why you have gotten a lot of negative posts. I think you've explained why you've used that word but take a second and put yourself in the mind of a current LSU player reading your statements and I think you can see how it can come across arrogant and even a bit rude. We have to remember that we are just fans. 99.99% of us never had the physical or mental attributes to compete for a second with any of the athletes in D1 CFB. This team cannot "Fail" us because this team does not play for us. This post was edited on 7/13 at 3:53 am Reply Back to Top |

| Correct, as good as a season LSU had last year it was tainted by a terrible performance in the one game we needed to come out and compete in. We never even SHOWED UP!! We should have seen it coming after the SEC champ game, but as LSU fans we have been conditioned to believe anything less than a NC season is a failure. Rightfully so. With an out of conference schedule as weak as we have this year and the strength of our core defense and improved offense, we are poised to have a perfect season. ...^^^ottothewise^^^...you can either attempt to be the best at whatever you do or be complacent and settle for 2nd place. To each his own. Reply Back to Top |
quote:The team was flat, but we wasn't on the sideline. quote:We wasn't coaching and hindsight is always 20/20. quote:We did that on our own and some of our feet still touch the ground. That conditioning is your own doing, while the players are out trying their hardest. Reply Back to Top |

quote: What's "tainted" is those among us who have expectations which can only be satisfied with perfection/undefeated seasons/nation championships in July for a team who plays in the best division of the best conference in all of college football. It's a shame we can't look into the life of some to see if they have achieved the perfection they are so quick to place upon 18-22 yr olds. I wonder how many of us might well fit that "failure" tag we seem to rush to apply to the efforts of others. Reply Back to Top |

| Excuse MY use of pronouns. I never said I was on the sideline or coaching last season. Sometimes I wish I was. I understand the players are under a lot of pressure, but is it UNWARRANTED pressure? No. They come to this school and university to compete against the best and hopefully at the end of the day/game/season walk away KNOWING they were the best. FOR ME ANYTHING LESS THAN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IS FAILURE. I agree going undefeated in the SEC west is a HUGE accomplishment, but doesn't really mean shite when a team's end goal should be a national title. Reply Back to Top |

| We, as a fan base, are becoming exactly what we hate about Bama fans. ENTITLED. Do you know how rare back to back undefeated regular seasons are? Yes I know Bama did it recently, but it's still rare as shite. This post was edited on 7/13 at 12:45 pm Reply Back to Top |
| Toughest game will be MSU coming off that Bama game - thankfully it's at home Reply Back to Top |

quote: You're being greedy. Yes we still have a lot of talent, but the Burger still has a lot prove. But obviously going undefeated and a BCSNC is the only way to outdo last season. Reply Back to Top |
quote: To shout out expectations of an undefeated regular season in July before the 1st snap of fall practice, before Mett has started his 1st game, and before we even know which LSU players will start or for how long only shows our lack of understanding of the game we watch each weekend in the fall. imo Not to mention how arrogant it makes us look as fans. | geauxjo I have been and will be disappointed many times in this lifetime. I know this. Growing up in the 90s, I still remember those .500 seasons under hallman/dinardo. Yeah LSU had a few good ones under Jerry, but the point I was making in my original post was....in this new era of Saban/Miles we as fans have grown accustomed to the success of the program. A .500 season simply would not suffice anymore. A 10-2 regular season record would be average to most fans imo. Are those high expectations unjustified? All the attention the SEC and especially the western division generates on a national level demands excellence, so I think not. As a fan I'm happy if we win our bowl game. But once again, I'm disappointed and a sense of failure creeps in when we don't win the NC. LSU will always be my team, been and will be a fan for life no matter the outcome of a game or season. quote: Exactly. Also, a few of these posters declaring undefeated or bust are the same one, before last year, claiming Les Miles was good for TWO losses a year. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
