| Aftermarket Jeep bumpers Posted by TU Rob I am picking up my new ride tomorrow. Probably going to add a new bumper soon. Does anyone have the textured one from Smittybilt? I'm deciding between the tube bumper with the loop on it or another one I saw. Can't remember the brand right now. I had the same Smittybilt on my old wrangler but it was gloss black. Just curious how this one is. Does it look like rhino lining as far as the finish?Reply Back to Top |
| I had a Rugged Ridge on mine. It was textured and looked decent. It held my winch nicely and was strong. I picked it up for pretty cheap too. I believe Smitty makes one almost identical to my RR for the same low price. Reply Back to Top |

quote: I think Rugged Ridge is the other brand I was looking at. quote: TJ. quote: It was late 90s when I had the Smittybilt on my YJ. Mainly for looking better than the factory. Probably won't see a ton of off road use. And if so, no rock crawling or anything like that. Reply Back to Top |
quote: You'll be fine then. I have heard their powder coating is not the greates and flakes off after a year or so. With the textured finish you can just rattle can it. How much is the bumper you are looking at. Hanson makes a great TJ bumper Poison spyder makes some nice stuff as well but you have to paint it yourself, just use some self etching primer and choose your favorite can of spray paint This post was edited on 7/13 at 10:05 am Reply Back to Top |
| why not buy one from someone thats fabs it himself. they are cheaper and made with thicker steel than the mass produced ones. Reply Back to Top |
| ARB makes a mean front and rear bumper Reply Back to Top |

quote: Happened to a set of nerf bars I had. But those were Westin. They replaced them and upgraded them to the ones with the steps built in for my trouble. I might look into fabricators. Anyone know of anyone in Birmingham? And thanks everyone for the recommendations on other brands. I'll check them out when I'm back at a computer. Reply Back to Top |

| im looking to get a rear bumper tire carrier from the guy on Jeep forum Beserk he quoted me 550 shipped a year or so ago. Reply Back to Top |
| Searchers Offroad will custom fab anything for a price. I don't know what that price will be but I imagine it's high. I bought my rear bumper/tire carrier from them a few years back. It was solid and a decent price. Reply Back to Top |
| I have had smittybilt src front and rear bumpers for 4 years. only problem that I have had was the rear squeak from the tire mount. quick 5 minute fix. like said b4, don't know how rugged they would be, but they work fine for light stuff. Had a guy rear end me at less than 10 mph. didn't even scratch the bumper, but probably caused 5k in damage to the front of his pickup Reply Back to Top Refresh |
