| re: Arsenal 2012/2013 Season Long Thread He's not liable for the stadium debt, no real investing, commercial deals about to be renewed, TV rights $$ increasing...he could make a cool £200-300mil in a few years investing nothing. Winning doesn't particularly matter in that regard. Reply Back to Top |
| How much did Kroenke pay for his shares? Hopefully he sells the club to some Qatari group that hates the UAE. After reading the letter that Usmanov sent to the board, I'm more on his side. He is a shady character, but not any more shady than Abramovich. He certainly seems to understand the debt issue, and takes the board to task about certain issues. It's also hilarious to me that Gazidis attempted to contact a company for a shirt sponsorship, but didn't know they were already owned by Usmanov. Reply Back to Top |
quote: In English football yes, in American sports, for the most part, no. Revenue sharing and the "franchise" model imbedded in the American sport business discourse allows team owners to spend how they please without the pressure to field a championship roster. They still will make money from the league's broadcast deals and branding. Look at Kroenke's other teams: Denver Nuggets: Zero championships, perpetually good but not great St. Louis Rams: Lousy since Kroenke purchased them Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids: Some bright spots mixed in with years of average. Barely cares about these two teams. Reply Back to Top |
| I was talking about in the realm of the English game. And I don't doubt he could make millions now. But revenues would climb if he invested in the squad. Reply Back to Top |

| A return of £300 mil is fairly small. I imagine some of his real-estate ventures produce more than that. I suppose that line of reasoning will have to do, as he won't do anything to dispel this notion. Reply Back to Top |
| I think it was in the neighborhood of £450mil. Reply Back to Top |
| More drama involving the board, Kronke, and Usmanov. LINK An interesting read or at I least I thought so. Also here is a link showing how much we spend compared to how much with profit when it comes to transfer dealings over the last five years. | I'm not sure if that number covers Giroud and Podolski. If it doesn't, we're breaking even which seems to be right. The worrying thing about our current modus operandi is that it is wholly reliant on Arsene. We need to move beyond that. Reply Back to Top |
| Not surprised Liverpool has sold the most. Half of that 185M pounds came from 3 players. Reply Back to Top |
| That table is fascinating to me. Here's a quick summary for the past five years: Arsenal have received 21,300,000 more than we have spent. (and we have yet to sell RvP) Even Spurs have spent 5,950,000 more than they received. Man City have spent 382,150,000 more than they have spent! That's 592 MILLION DOLLARS. ETA These numbers include Podolski and Giroud. This post was edited on 7/8 at 4:33 pm Reply Back to Top |

Fiorentina have made a bid for Chamakh. Rumors swirling about Jovetic. Perhaps a swap is in order? ![]() Reply Back to Top |
| That would be absolutely amazing news! The Chamakh deal should be done asap. One more piece of deadwood gone. Jovetic would be just the kind of quality signing this club would need right now. Also word is that we are trying to extend Kosceinly's contract. That would be a smart move indeed. This post was edited on 7/9 at 10:41 am Reply Back to Top |
| I'd take it. I'm not optimistic about it happening though. Reply Back to Top |
| I hope Jovetic comes to England (particularly Liverpool). He will be good. Reply Back to Top |
| Me neither. Far more likely they just buy Chamakh. Hopefully we can get some of these moves done soon (squid, Beowulf, chamakh, fabianski, etc) so we can buy someone else. i'm actually glad we won't be able to sell Arshavin. If RvP is gone, he could definitely be useful. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
