NFL Backs Off Claim Hargrove Said "Give Me My Money"
Posted by Bowe Knows on 7/5 at 8:22 pm
Profootballtalk.com says the revelation was in attachments in suit to dismiss Vilma's suit.

Article says more to come later tonight. But they say in letter that it didn't matter and doesn't change their stance on Hargrove's appeal.

LINK

But sure looks bad when Mary Jo was pointing it out and it was played on NFL Network over and over. Hargrove may have a better libel suit that Vilma when this is over.

Wtf? Hell yeah it looked bad. They dragged his name through the mud doing that. What the hell is he suspended for? CSP for that matter? Will Smith? What are any of them suspended for?

so what if anyone said give me money.

that is such weak evidence i can't believe this along with computer documents (not even signed) is all they have. this shite would never hold up in a court.

you cannot determine who is saying give me money, and in my opinion it is not hargrove speaking.

just absolute a crock of shite.

And guess what? Won't matter. ESPN will barely report it and no one will care except us.

It pisses me off beyond all belief, but that piece of shite Goodell has won.

I agree the phrase means nothing. I always wondered if someone was about to be a free agent and went all Jerry McQuire but got the phrase wrong.

Yeah, I made the big play. We are going to the Super Bowl. Show me the money...

I hope this gets in a court in some way. A good lawyer can shred this. Heck, a bad lawyer can shred this.

ETA - some people on ESPN radio, specifically former players, are starting to get more vocal that this "investigation" and "evidence" is suspect. The dissent is growing...slowly, but growing.

So the PACKERS lose a player for half a season because Goodell said he said something it defies any common sense for him to say.

Meanwhile, the guy who would have most likely said it just re-signed with the Saints and will never face punishment.

This is beyond ignorant now. He fricked over an innocent man because he doesn't have the balls to admit he was wrong.

I don't know how, but I hope this tool has to prove any of this in court to save his job. This whole deal wouldn't last an hour in court. A judge would throw it out and laugh at his ass. Yet here he is going all Stalin on the Saints. Someone needs to make him pay.

thats the funniest part of all this to me

the Packers are getting punished for this and not even the Saints

ETA: in terms of this tape/video "evidence"

Tell me how an impartial arbitrator can listen to Hargrove make his case, admit that he's right, and STILL say that his punishment stands.

This lawsuit by the other three guys has to have legs on that alone.

I'm sure I'm in the supreme minority on this one, but I honestly think I'd trade having a good season just to see this a-hole go down at this point. The guy has shite on the happiest time of my entire sports watching life with hearsay, and bull shite.

We're finally starting to see a few non-Saints fans in the comment section realize that the league is in the wrong here.

And we still have the cowards who, instead of acknowledging what's right and wrong, hide behind, "The CBA says he can do this, so deal with it."

And there's one idiot who doesn't care who said it, he still thinks that the Saints had a bounty program. Never mind the "evidence" that's been debunked thus far. He feels that the league should be trusted outright, because you know, Authority has never been wrong...

quote:

“For purposes of addressing Mr. Hargrove’s appeal,” Goodell writes, “I need not resolve the issue of who made the statement. Instead, I am prepared to assume — as he apparently stated publicly — that he did not make it. But that statement is relevant because, regardless of which player said it, it corroborates other evidence that there was an incentive in place for knocking Mr. Favre out of the game and that the members of the Saints defense, including Mr. Hargrove, were well aware of that fact. The identity of the player who made the statement was immaterial to my decision on your appears and did not affect the level of discipline imposed on Mr. Hargrove.”

This is just so ridiculous. How does this just not sound absolutely crazy to any intelligent person? "Oh yeah, I heard someone say give me my money, so obviously that leads us to believe there was a bounty system in place." real logical

The lack of evidence they've presented is astounding

Yes, only because making him hand over the Lombardi, IN New Orleans would just be insane.
He can get canned after the season
