Intro: LINK

Unfortunately, this series has the 70s written all through it however I would love to see someone competent redo this today. Hopefully, they wouldn't try to make a comedy movie out of it like the trend seems to be (Starsky & Hutch, Land of the Lost, etc.)

They would have to change the title or leave it in the 70's. 6 Billion dollar man seems pretty high even for today's standards and 6 million dollar man could be almost anyone in a trauma center.

one of my favorite shows ever ! Steve Austin was my hero growing up.

some shows just need to be left alone.

Good one!

From CNN/Money in 2008: What would he cost today?

quote:

1974 cost: $6 million
2008 inflation adj. cost: $26 million
Actual 2008 cost: Up to $100 million

Actual surgery not too bad...developmental costs, R&D, could skyrocket his price.

Loved that show as a kid. Although even back then the effects were kind of underwhelming.

yeah, the old mechanical sound and slow motion this is kinda lame now....but back then it was "believable" to most kids.

I assume that's Oscar Goldman and the Six Million Dollar Woman with him in that pic?

Reminds me of the scene from "40 Year Old Virgin"...

“Wait – is that Steve Austin’s boss?”

Same.

My favorite two episodes were when he took on that killer tank, and bigfoot.

The episode where he has to fight a robot Oscar Goldman, when Steve knocks the face plate off the bot, scared me so bad I had nightmares.

watching them now, the bigfoot episodes would seem kinda cheesy...but back then they were some of my favorite episodes.

I thought the slow motion was stupid as hell back then too; though I mostly liked the show.
