The more and more I think about it...

I think we should get another big at #10 even if Lillard is still on the board.

As excited as we are about landing AD, this team is still a year or 2 (in a perfect world) away from seriously competing for something.

Right now, the General and the Gentleman is decent depth running the point. Jack is a fringe starter and Vazquez is an athletic point that is a good distributor. There really is no point to bring in another point, especially such a wild card in Lillard.

I think it would be in our best interest to try and find a long term partner for Davis.

Here's the thing, I'm of the belief that, given time to bulk up and mature, Davis can be a dominant center but will obviously start his career in NOLA at the 4. If the Hornets FO is thinking this as well, this gives us the versatility to pick either a 4 (Jones III, Sullinger, Henson, Moultrie) or the only real 5 in this draft (Zeller).

I doubt we resign Kaman and because of that I doubt we amnesty Okafor. So if this were to pan out the depth chart this season should look something like this (going off of Ford's latest mock that has us taking Sullinger):

1: Jack/Vazquez/Gordon
2: Gordon/Belinelli/Henry
3: Ariza/Aminu/Henry
4: Davis/Smith/Sullinger/Ayon
5: Okafor/Smith/Davis

That's not terrible at all should everyone stay healthy. I could legitimately see us getting 6th or 7th seed.

However in the future, say 3 years down the line it give us a young core that consists of a premier starting 2-guard which is impossible to find and a young hard-nosed front court with one of those players hopefully on the road to greatness.

1: x/x/x
2: Gordon/x/x
3: Aminu?/x/x
4: Sullinger/Smith?/x
5: Davis/x/x

Make one decent signing in free agency and then fill out the roster through the draft and smaller signings, trades and we could be onto something.

That is a good idea. If we get rid of 2 /3 bigs (Landry, Kaman, Oak) this would be great for us. I know people were talking earlier about how the low post game is fading away, but I wouldn't mind a situation like the Lakers have with Bynum and Gasol, especially if they are both rookies and could work together for 5+ years.

Really we should keep emeka and resign kaman and landry. We should have a lineup of :

Anthony Davis point
Eric Gordon shooting guard
Carl Landry three
Kaman da four
Emeka at the five.

DaFuq? ... Maybe Big but Not Athletic ...

Anyway, that is just me agitating but I completely agree with the rest about drafting a big along side of AD.

Vazquez will grow into a solid starting PG in the NBA IMO.

I agree. I wish Drummond would fall, or package something to move up a few spots to get him.

Then sign Dragic

Agreed. He's got good size and played pretty well last season as basically a rookie. Got plenty of experience, too.

My issue with Davis and Sullinger is that, even if Davis bulks up and plays center, he'll likely be a PF most of this year and into next (if not forever). Sullinger would struggle to get minutes and develop for a good while unless they give up on Ayon.

I'm pretty much open to almost anything at this point.

I've been pretty adamant about adding scorers at 1, 2, or 3. But...

I definitely understand the logic of going Big/Big. Its hard to get bigs that are solid, especially 7 footers. If you get two guys that are solid there, and you already have 2-3 legit backups/borderline starters, you are set in the frontcourt for a long time, and that is HARD to do.

Wing scorers can be found. I wouldn't say its "easy" but there are a lot of guys out there that know how to score.

Well then take Perry Jones and give him some time at the 3 or take Moultrie/Henson and give him some time at the 5.

Or you can just assume that Davis will stick at the 4 and get an offensive minded 5 like Zeller and you let Davis play the 4 on offense and Zeller the 4 on defense, Davis the 5 on defense.

The problem with Zeller though is that I think he is a good backup big at best.

12/8/4/1 per 36 min last year with good %s. 2nd year in the league.

Dont be surprised when he's starting somewhere.

I agree 100%. The General is young and got a lot of PT last year that will help him down the line. He's going to be a great backup behind Jack next year (should the Hornets not go PG with 10), and hopefully he can take over full time duties in 2013. He's the kind of PG the team needs--a distributor

Not true ... Look at the last 4 teams playing. Sullinger/Davis could easily match-up with Bass/Garnett, Haslem/Bosh, Serge/Perkins, Diaw/Duncan ... It isn't so much about the size of players as it is the fit of them on offense and the ability to play the pick and roll on defense or switch out on players. Lakers aren't playing because neither Gasol or Bynum could really do so. Meaning any guard had their way.

If you take Sullinger and stay at status quo ... you lack a true defender at the 1 but you could easily finish games with a line-up featuring Gordon, Ariza or Aminu (one will be gone most likely), Sully, Davis and the other 1/2 that ends up being on the roster in a year or two.

Exactly, having two talented big man is one thing, having two talented big men that can coexist on offense is another, but having two talented big men that can actually complement each other makes you a title contender.

I like the idea of having two great young bigs. I would probably take Lillard if he is there, but after that I like zeller/moultrie/henson
