I'm gonna have to give this a listen later tonight.

I love Branan, didn't realize he had a new album coming out though.

I preordered the CB bundle pack thing. It's a really good album.

Only concern is putting tits on the cover for his biggest label debut..

probably won't hurt with his current fanbase. perhaps he's trying to make it a little controversial so it'll get talked about. no press is bad press

I've heard these songs for the past 5 years.. Good to see they are finally getting released.

Think he's playing BR in July at the manship

For whatever reason, the wreck of the sultana was omitted. Which is one of the best written songs I've ever heard.

Whiskey grove is great

Easy has to be a favorite of mine

Or his "attack of the 50 ft hangover". Which was never recorded or released.

found some reviews:

quote:

"Few songwriters sum up the contradictions of beery romance—of bad men drinking in barrooms, of heartbreakers darkening your door—with quite as much grit, wit and compassion as Branan, who can turn a phrase on a dime." – Paste Magazine

"Lyrically it’s amazing. The guy is a weapons-grade story teller… His wit, sarcasm and introspection are on full display on his latest long player. After only a few listens I can foresee this album being in heavy rotation all summer." – Hear Ya

"With MUTT, Cory Branan should go from being one of the best kept secrets around, to a “where have you been all of my life?” delicious musical find." – Cool Album of the Day

"The album is at once bold, intriguing and engrossing. The diverse themes are held together by an impeccable knack for the craft of songwriting." – Country Standard Time

"A natural troubadour, Branan channels his inner John Prine on this near-perfect gathering of tunes that he delivers with a healthy dose of his native twang." – The Daily News

wasn't really impressed with the sound, especially the redone songs. seems like it's churched up a little too much. i like the raspy voice and chaotic nature of survivor blues on the flophouse sessions

Yeah, I rather hear these songs acoustically and raw.

July 16th at the manship theatre, I'll get to!

nice. i envy you folks that live that close to a decent music scene. my hometown is a geographical oddity, two weeks away from everywhere...
