Wow...there goes the obstuctionist republican congress argument.

If (and this is a HUGE IF) Obama is down nationally and electorally by a decent margin as we near the end of July, beginning of August, is there any chance at all that the Ds cut bait and throw the election?

Follow me here, the economy is set to explode based on debt that was kicked down the road at some point in the near future.

Could the democrats essentially tank the election such that a Republican is in the WH again when everything tanks so as to regain power again as the saviors as opposed to having a D in the WH when it collapses.

::Puts tinfoil hat down and walks away::

I've heard more than once that's what the R's did in 2008, giving us our glorious fricking leader we're stuck with now...

Ouch. This is just one of many tick marks that shows that Obama is not qualified to be President. Your budget is so out of touch that you could not get a single vote even in the Senate where the Dems have a majority? Really?

Not a single elected representative in the federal government would vote for his shite.

And they have single digit approval ratings.

He is a disgrace.

So his budget received not one single vote in both houses?

Did someone say "the party of NO"?

quote:

UPDATE - The Senate has defeated the House-passed Ryan budget, 41-58. I counted five Republicans joining Democrats in voting it down, at least one of whom voted no because it doesn't go far enough. Democrats voted in lockstep against this budget, as they have on every proposed budget for the last three years. Head-to-head tally: Paul Ryan 41 - Barack Obama 0

quote:

UPDATE II - The Senate has defeated Senator Pat Toomey's (R-PA) budget resolution, 42-57. This is the seventh consecutive proposed Senate budget that has failed to attract even one Democrat vote.

Its a fricking joke... There should be a law that these bitches should have to pass a balanced budget or not be allowed to leave the chamber.

Hold them hostage until they actually do something to earn their pay

But I was told on this board a few days ago by a libtard that the reason the Dems haven't passed a budget in 4 years is because they only held the super majority for only 1 vote!

Here is the response from Decatur:

quote:

Then perhaps you'd like to answer the question of why they didn't get it done when they had their chance?

Response/Excuse

quote:

There was only one vote where Dems had 60...the Medicare vote that a very ill Ted Kennedy came back to vote for. Because of the circumstances involving Kennedy's illness and the Franken recount, that was the only day they could get 60 on the floor.

I wish it had been otherwise but these are the facts.

He went on to explain that the reason they didn't put up a budget was because the R might of used a filibuster, and therefore the R's were the real reason nothing was being done.

From the original article:
quote:

(2) "Republican obstructionism!" False. Budgets explicitly cannot be filibustered. If Democrats introduced a budget, whipped their members, and called a vote, it would pass.

This. Reconciliation.

You'd have thought, knowing the vote would fail a few Senators would have thrown the man a bone so it wasn't an 0-fer.

Make that an -Fer
