| If I'm not mistaken, 7 states peacefully seceded under Buchanan. When Lincoln was elected, he began to raise the Union military in force. 4 more states seceded as a direct result of what they saw as tyranny. This led to an escalation on hostilities, and any hope of a peaceful resolution was obliterated. But hey, this is a movie board and not a history board. Reply • Back to Top |
