Obama blames bad economy on media
Posted by LSUgusto on 5/14 at 8:07 pm
HuffPo reports:
quote:

He referenced the tough economy, and blamed the media for spreading cynicism.

"No wonder that faith in our institutions has never been lower, particularly when good news doesn't get the same kind of ratings as bad news anymore," Obama said. "Every day you receive a steady stream of sensationalism and scandal, and stories with a message that suggests change isn't possible, that you can't make a difference, that you won't be able to close that gap between life as it is and life as it should be."

Obama: Don't listen to media

I remember the media had a collective cow when Phil Graham suggested we were in a "mental recession". Now, Obama drops the plate right in their face, and they will sit there and swallow it. If they had any shame whatsoever, they'd circle the wagons and defend themselves. But, those days are long gone.

Obama needs to blame the man in the mirror.

Our financial institutions need to stop investing in the stock market, it's too much of a gamble. We need to start focussing on safe, secure gov't revenue to grow this economy.

There was nothing but positive news stories during the Bush administration.

Is reinstituting Glass Steagall this difficult?

I watched the address live. Clearly it was part of his overall message of breaking through the negativity and cynicism. Staying positive and persevering. Typical stuff for the occasion, and likely the same thing he tells his daughters.

My Magic 8 Ball says, "It is decidedly so".

Obama and the Dems had a real chance in their first two years. Opportunity lost, because I don't see the GOP doing it, either. Ever.

well perhaps he should keep the fairy tales for bed time with the girls, and not talk down to the rest of us.

Ed Schultz used to always say this on his radio show. Except he was serious. He'd rail for hours about how pro-bush the media was. No joke.

I fund it heeelarious, though.

Repealing both Dodd-Frank and Gramm–Leach–Bliley acts should do it.

Obama shouldn't do anything but thank the media.

They're the only reason why there isn't a second President Clinton right now

If we had a legitimate press, Bush and Cheney would be facing war crimes. The religious right would be exposed for what it is, religious zombies. The Catholic church would be shut down long ago. And on and on.

I forgot to add, we'd also have more crooked CEOs, BODs, and Wall Street thieves in jail. They are all around.
