| LSU wasn't motivated this past weekend......when they're challenged. I feel they will come thru. This series against Carolina will show alot as far as if they have that "championship grit". It's not easy to get jacked up for an unranked .500 Vandy squad. IMO we will bounce back and take at least 2 of 3 from Carolina. Reply Back to Top |

| If you're not motivated to win the SEC and get a Super Regional at home, I have no use in thinking you will make the CWS Reply Back to Top |
quote: USCe was 1-5 in the SEC at the time. Vandy was UF's first SEC opponent of the season. Look, I get it...LSU baseball should be motivated to win every game. But when your opponent literally needs every game to keep playing, its much different. Reply Back to Top |
| We had game 2 won if not for Vandy fighting back with that homer. The played a hell of a game and deserve their props. We were extremely close to taking the series Reply Back to Top |
| Not being negative at all, just will be surprised if we take 1 or more from SC. Hopefully we do but they will have to fight for it. Reply Back to Top |

quote: When your opponent is fighting for: - An opportunity just to play in the NCAA Tourney and - A better seed in the SEC Tourney No, it isn't dumb. It isn't that LSU didn't want to win but the motivation factor wasn't there. Reply Back to Top |
| If they are not motivated to fight for the SEC title, then they serious problems. Reply Back to Top |
quote: its baseball not boxing or football, Vandy did not deliver a knockout blow, we did not play well enough to beat an average Vandy squad and there is zero excuse...props to vandy, Wake up LSU, damn people Reply Back to Top |
quote: It seems to me that very few people on here get this.......there are a lot of excuses out there.....I'm glad we haven't heard any of these from the team....I truly believe the team knows how terrible they were this weekend and will do what it takes to get better next weekend. | This is just not consistent hitting the ball. And is lacking in power hitters. Good pitching but this is not a team that can overpower you. I'll be pleasantly suprised if they go to Omaha. Reply Back to Top |
| We had a chance to lock up a top 8 seed, that should be enough motivation Instead, now we put ourselves in a must win situation at South Carolina. Not good Reply Back to Top |
| I keep seeing people in denial using this excuse or "vandy needed it more" and it's bull shite. The truth is our inept lineup got shut the frick down most of the weekend and Vandy did a better job of generating runs because our catcher pretty much gave them a free pass to steal at will. We don't have the bats to be able to afford giving away runs from things like that and stupid defensive errors. Bad weekend, it happens. No need to hide behind weak excuses. We have serious weaknesses offensively, that's nothing new Reply Back to Top |
quote: Don't take my posts as I believe LSU played well this past weekend... Reply Back to Top |
| I just don't think the reasons for losing were due to motivation or lack of it. They were mostly close games Vandy just did a better job of capitalizing off of our frick ups. Had they blasted the shite out of us all weekend, I'd be more likely to accept the motivation theory Reply Back to Top |
| Snickeris's inability to throw anyone out was pretty killer, and their ability to get a man on (which pretty much meant he got into scoring position from the previous point) almost every inning kept the pressure on us in both of the last two games. the other thing is they made a handful of killer plays on defense that kept us out of big innings multiple times throughout the series. Nola, hannover off the top of my head are two that were robbed but there were multiple stellar catches that prevented a lot of inning and likely game changers. a few questionable calls also went against us just went along with the fact that the baseball gods werent with us to grab the squeakers and we just didnt make enough chances for ourselves. we are going to have to step it up big time next weekend This post was edited on 5/14 at 1:20 pm Reply Back to Top |
Posted by West Bank Dan on 5/14 at 1:59 pm to LSshoe Don't know if motivation was a problem. Even with all the double-plays and men left on base we still were in position to win game 3 and the series. Like another poster said, the baseball gods are not in your favor when Rhymes goes 2-12 in the series and your closer with a 0.71 ERA blows a save. Just wasn't our day yesterday. Vandy should not be considered "average" as they are 20-10 in their last 30 and also took their series with Kentucky. That being said, a national seed and home field would be huge as this team will need every advantage it can get to make it to the CWS.Reply Back to Top |
| Vandy's outfield was much more athletic than ours Reply Back to Top |
| 1. Regular season home closer 2. Seal SEC west championship 3. Stay in the hunt for SEC regular season championship 4. Hold on to top 8 national seed 5. Win one for Mom 6. Break the Vandy win streak This post was edited on 5/14 at 6:53 pm Reply Back to Top Refresh |
