This is why I don't think it will happen. Marvel's all aboard the more classic comic approach of good guy smashes bad guy. Then you throw in the Thanos cameo which signifies more cosmic adversaries and that's a pretty far reach to thinking they will do any kind of hero civil war.

If they were sticking to that, even Thanos would be a bad call. Ultron would have been a much better villain. So it's a bit murky what they want to do.

Thanos is initially about destroying half the universe, and he does. And then there's the mentions of Death as an entity....

Ultron...

Film 2 and 3 back to back.

Masters of Evil in 2 and the subplot is the development of Ultron which rolls into 3

When do we get him? He'd be awesome! Amirite?

I'd be shocked if they ever included him in the movies.

In a fair and just world Beta Ray Bill:The Motion Picture would be highest grossing movie of all time.

If we get a Thor 3, I would put good money on seeing him at least by then.

Skrulls are out.
They're a Fantastic Four foe and tied to Fox.

Same with Black Panther. Originated in FF.

Hank and Janet are possibles, specifically Hank.

Vision is an outside chance.

Look for Thanos to be the foe in the Thor sequel.

I'm definitely agreeing that Thor and Cap 2 will be used to introduce Thanos.

Logical post is logical. Did my new friend leave this convo to the "idiots"?

I agree. I think this was even mentioned by Kevin Feige, the Marvel Studio boss.

This on the other hand has not been confirmed. Black Panther has actually been tied in heavily to the Avengers over the last few years, which would logically lead many to believe he's a good possibility for a new Avenger.

ETA: I found a story of when Marvel started development on a possible BP movie. Marvel Studios does hold the rights.

Agreed.

This doesn't make much sense to me. His dry, robotic personality would be a great addition to the current crop of characters and he could easily be setup somewhere in the next batch of individual films. He's actually one of the stronger bets to show up as well.

I doubt it. I'm thinking Loki and Enchantress or some other combination. I think any significant use of Thanos will be saved for Avengers 2.

Here's a decent list of possible story lines

10 Avengers comic stories that would make good sequels

Some notable one's

#7 Infinity Gauntlet

#4 Under Siege

#3 Civil War

#2 Ultron Unlimited

#1 Kang Dynasty

Back in my fanboy days, I had a letter to the editor published in Avengers bitching that Kang took over the world for months and months, but it was never referenced in the other books.

#10 is one I have frequently metioned, Galatic Storm. The conclusion pits Cap and Rogers in a moral decision against one another. The follow up to their fall out, I believe was in Cap #401 vol.1 (Yes this super fanboyish, but at that time I was getting The Avengers and Cap delivered to my door.Galatic Storm was my first big crossover with these books) has Stark and Cap burying the hatchet in bar-after Stark (who did manage to drink again in Avengers) quit drinking.

They're almost there with the AI that is Jarvis. Not a big leap to put Jarvis in an android body and imprint him with Colson's brainwaves. But he isn't known by the general public.

Why wasn't Don Cheadle in The Avengers? Is he not in the comics?

I'm a little late to this party - but what the hell happened to red skull in CA? he just seemed to shoot off to the other side of the universe. could he come back as a villain in an avengers sequel? seems kind of lame to have him come back to be the villain in CA sequel.

Anything is possible. I could see Thanos using him as a pawn somehow.

I hope not, as much as possible, I'd love to keep the individual villains as separate threats(and hopefully contained within the solo films), or have them attack each other.

I had a thought: If Thor was able to destroy most of what was coming through the portal with his lightening why didn't he just keep doing it?
