Posted by AlaTiger Serious question. We are being told that all those who oppose gay marriage on any grounds are "hate-filled bigots." We have also been told that gay marriage proponents do not want to go down the slippery slope of legalizing polygamy or other forms of marriage. They say that is ludicrous. However, under what basis do they say that a man cannot have 2-3 wives or vice versa? Why can't a woman who is bisexual be married to BOTH a man and a woman who are okay with the relationship and want the state to sponsor it? Why can't a man be legally married to two women as a bigamist with separate households and claim them both as wives simultaneously, if the women agree? Why shouldn't the state recognize a brother/sister or brother/brother marriage? If gays reject these arrangements by consenting adults, then, by their own logic, they are hate-filled bigots, no? Under what logic do they draw the line against these arrangements without being "hate-filled bigots?" I mean, if the people love each other and are consenting adults, then how do you stop it? And, if you do, then under what argument? I am not asserting that gays want to open Pandora's Box. Actually, I think that most could care less about other groups. However, I am just wondering how they can say no to these groups and if they do, then aren't they just "hate-filled bigots?" This post was edited on 5/9 at 12:18 pm Reply Back to Top |

| Seems that they are not accepting or tolerant of many opinions of others.....especially people with religion. Reply Back to Top |
| I am just wondering if they ate engaging in bigotry against polygamists and bisexuals who want to marry BOTH a man and a woman. It seems so, but I can't get anyone to answer me. Reply Back to Top |

| I agree that it will open pandora's box (three wives, etc) but at the same time, who cares if two dudes want to get married. It's such a small part of the population. Reply Back to Top |
quote: When you use that religion as the sole or primary basis to prevent other people from receiving the civil rights and benefits awarded to straight couples, then yes....it is hard to be accepting or tolerant of that religious belief. fwiw...I consider myself to be religious and strongly support gay marriage. | So, are gays who tell a polygamist or bigamist or bisexual that they cannot be married legally to those they love actually hate-filled bigots? If you draw a line anywhere, does that make you a hate-filled bigot to those on the other side of the line? If not, why not? Reply Back to Top |

quote: Why not indeed, although I don't see the need for the state to recognize them. If two adults (or more) want to enter into a marriage contract, then who cares. Reply Back to Top |
| Just breathe deeply and realize it's inevitable. And realize that you'll be okay. Reply Back to Top |

quote: Okay. This is a consistent view. Is a homosexual who opposes your view a "hate-filled bigot?" Reply Back to Top |
| The issue I see with homosexuals is the need to stand out from everyone else. It is this need to stand out that quite often adds or creates problems for their "lifestyle". This need to have a rainbow flag, parades, public displays of affection, often for the mere shock value and on and on. Maybe, just maybe if they blended in with the rest of society their issues may resolve. Reply Back to Top |

I'd hate anyone who segregated us me on paper like that. I don't blame gays for being angry, hateful, obnoxious, etc. I'd act the same way but be more poorly dressed. Reply Back to Top |
