| In a similair situation as you. 6yr experience Mechanicle Engineer all with same company. I start a new job next Monday. All interviews I got were from Online Job postings. Most from directly applying on the companies website. Identify likely companies, sign up on their career site, they will email openings to you. Also register / search on Careerbuilder, sologig, engineering.com, indeed, or any other career search site not called monster. Reply Back to Top |
| I worked with a recruiter (although in a completely different field) and got hired within a month. It was free of charge, the company pays a finder's fee to said recruiter. Reply Back to Top |

There was a post on the O/T a couple of days ago from a recruiter looking for a number of engineers in Baton Rouge. I google search and it appears that the thread was locked. Might be enough info to find the poster... quote: Reply Back to Top |

| The only negative about using a recruiter is the company has to pay the recruiting fee, so if you are up against someone of equal ability/skills, you may not get selected due to the company having to pony up $5k or so to select you over an equal. Reply Back to Top |
quote:I am in your same position, EE with 4 years experience, another 18 months until I sit for the PE. My last 2 jobs came via recruiters. I literally could not get a single bite from anybody directly. Everybody that called me was a recruiter. Some for contract, some for direct. Most were looking to relocate me. My first relocated me to Knoxville, stayed there for 7 months, then got a bite back in Baton Rouge and came back here recently. It isn't all that bad working with recruiters. The guy who got me in knoxville was cool as hell, we had beers every week or two and hung out. The recruiter that got me back to BR, I haven't heard from him since my first day. Reply Back to Top |

| Recruiters are free, the person that hires you pays them. Recruiters usually contact you, if they're not.... Reply Back to Top |
