Possible Solution to "Why was my thread anchored" Seems to me like we have a bunch of idiots on this board who can't understand why their threads were anchored. Is there a way that every time an admin anchors a thread, like in the dialogue box (I have no idea how anchoring works) they could checkmark a common reason (2 word thread, duplicate thread, etc.) that will automatically send a PM to the user describing that generic thing? Between the help board, topics of interest on the OT, and the music board, I've been seeing "why was my thread anchored" everywhere and thought I'd think about a solution. Sorry if this is dumb. Just a thought. Reply Back to Top
It's not the admin's fault that the creator of the anchored thread cannot/will not read the "Why was my thread anchored" thread. Reply Back to Top
or they could just click the thread at the top of the help board and deduce why it happened to their thread, rather than starting another thread asking why? 99% of the time the answer is right before their eyes, they just lack the common sense to see it ETA, and your solution creates more work for the admins. why should they have to put forth more effort for someone else’s short comings This post was edited on 5/7 at 2:33 pm Reply Back to Top
Or just put my post back into the locked thread. Ok, Admins? kthxbye. Reply Back to Top

I thought it would indirectly alleviate some of the admins' work. Just clicking a button right next to the anchor button (if one exists) seems a lot easier than having to sticky these threads everywhere and deal with answering people who start new threads that are too dumb to read the stickied thread. I've seen lots of people ask why their threads were anchored even with the FAQ sticky there, and admins will respond and tell them why. It would also unclutter the board. I agree that people should read the stickied thread, but a lot of times they just ignore it. Reply Back to Top |
