| Great, go shoot one. Reply Back to Top |
| Mine only has a 6.25" barrel Reply Back to Top |
| Then shoot that. Reply Back to Top |
| It's too damn late. Don't think the neighbors would appreciate that ear-splitter. So ruling out single shots, which handgun gun with a say $2000 limit (gun+custom work) has the best accuracy potential? Reply Back to Top |

| Take that 1911 pecker outta ya mouth and give me some reasoning Reply Back to Top |
| Or, something made by Beretta Reply Back to Top |
| I've seen what they can do stock and heavily modified like my STI. All jokes aside, I think a 1911 is the most accurate 45 out the box to get back to what that guy said that started this Reply Back to Top |
quote: Based on this word alone: quote: Im going to say a 1911. Based on this statement: quote: Im going to say a Glock 17. Why? Because my glock works and your 1911 may or may not depending on ammo, magazines, MIM parts, plastic main spring housing, and many other parts that 1911 snobs like to blame their lack of skills on. FWIW, Im just kidding. With that price, Id find a used Les Baer 1911 and buy lots of ammo. Reply Back to Top |
| I've never shot a semi of any flavor off a rest nor do I personally know anybody who has. Seems like the mechanics of a semi-auto would have to make it less accurate than a well-fitted revolver. I can see how the p7 would be on par with a revolver of similar barrel length since nothing really moves till the bullet is gone, but I just can't see anything with a cammed barrel being as accurate as something with a fixed barrel. | I just can't imagine shooting a revolver much. having to pull the hammer all the time to get single action. Just not something that is appealing to me. Reply Back to Top |
| I would give a well tuned revolver the same accuracy as a well tuned and modified 1911 Reply Back to Top |
| It doesn't bother me, but it's what I've shot the most by a long ways. I went a long time with a SA revolver being the only handgun I'd ever shot. I'm used to them so I shoot most of them far better than semi's. There are some revolvers I don't really like the feel of and don't shoot them particularly well. Having to cock it doesn't bother me though. It's second nature. KR, what kinda accuracy do you get out of your match gun at say, 50 yards? Reply Back to Top |
quote: With the STI I could most likely get 6-8" grouping at 50 yards off hand with a two hand hold. Reply Back to Top |
| I'm talking with a rest. That's pretty damn impressive for offhand though. I do good to hit a 12" plate at 50 yards offhand every shot with my magnesium. Reply Back to Top |
| In a vice, the STI is likely to shoot a 2-3" group at 50. A stock 1911 about 1.5" worse from a vice. These are just estimated by the way, I've never shoot them at 50 yards from a vice. This post was edited on 5/6 at 10:49 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: I figured that. I was looking for a guess. I have no clue how accurate 1911's are. I've shot them offhand before, but me+1911+offhand=/=good data Reply Back to Top Refresh |
