| Just a thought about organization of this board thrown out on a slow Sunday Do we need to start a thread for each position to clean up the clutter on here? That way people that keep up with the board on a regular basis would know to go to the last page of the thread for info and newbies could read through it. Right now we've got posts titled "Cooper Bateman latest" and "Jeremy Johnson #1 QB on LSU Board" that have tons of information on a number of other quarterbacks. No one except for the people that posted the info know that stuff is on here. Some poor guy who lives in North Carolina and and wanted to share some info on Conner Mitch had to search out a thread that hadn't been posted in since February to post it in the appropriate place. If he had a thread labeled 2013 Quarterbacks he would have known to post it there and instead of hoping that a search would have led him to the comments about Conner that have been posted as recently as yesterday in posts that have other quarterback's names in the thread. I am talking about having these threads: 2013 Quarterbacks 2013 Running backs 2013 Wide receivers 2013 Tight ends 2013 Offensive tackles 2013 Offensive guards 2013 Centers 2013 Defensive ends 2013 Defensive tackles 2013 Linebackers 2013 Safetys 2013 Corners I'm not saying when a guy commits, just put it in the quarterback thread. I'm not even saying don't start threads about individual guys ever. I'm just saying a thread for each position would be great for keeping all of the "What are we hearing on so and so" threads from popping up. Maybe the OP for each thread could change the title by adding "5/06/12 update" when he sees someone added information to the post. It would be different and we'd all have to learn about the change but it would clean up the board. Something we need even more is a stickied thread for posts about 2014 players. We did that last year for 2013 guys and I thought it worked out well. If you have info on a 2014 recruit post it in there. If you want to see something about who the 2014 recruits are, read that thread. Just reflecting on how hard navigating this board has been. Reply Back to Top |
| Would make alot of since, and easier to get more information. Reply Back to Top |
| That's too many stickies if that's what you're hoping for. It would fill the first page up and to be honest, that's usually all I check. Reply Back to Top |
| Also, there is no way we could have a QB thread this year and not have it involve JJ or Lee Reply Back to Top |

Maybe just an offense and defense sticky? Reply Back to Top |
| I like this idea Reply Back to Top |
| If the majority of information was posted in the position threads, they should stay on the first couple of pages. Not really asking for stickies but the SEC Recruiting board is much easier to reads because they keep all of the info in threads for each team's prospects. Those threads aren't stickied but because they keep each school's recruiting info in each school's designated recruiting thread, they stay on the front page. I think we could do the same thing and at least keep all of these threads on the first two pages without a sticky. This might really have to be something to start after this February's signing day to give plenty of notice to everyone ahead of time. Reply Back to Top |
| Fix the clutter on the board by cluttering up the board? Ehhh... Reply Back to Top |
| combine all OL together, ditto with DL and DBs. add a thread for ATH as well. that would give us: qb rb wr ol dl lb db ath i understand thats a lot of stickies, but it would be a significant improvement imo. i cant keep up with recruiting year round, just too busy. it would certainly make my life easier in regards to lsu recruiting. just make sure a reliable, knowledgable poster is responsible for each OP and standardize their appearance. should be pretty easy for the regs to agree on a template Reply Back to Top |
| I could put together the original posts for them each. Reply Back to Top |
| thatd certainly be fine with me. itd be nice to have similar information in each thread Reply Back to Top |
quote: As I said earlier stickeies shouldn't be necessary if people post in the appropriate thread. There are seven "team" recruiting threads on the front page of the SEC Recruiting board and the Texas A&M team thread is at the top of page two. The other teams don't really post in the ones they made. If we did eight or nine position threads, most of them should stay on the first page without stikies too. This working is dependent on people posting info and questions in the position threads. It will only work if everyone wants to do it. If most people on here don't want to do it then we shouldn't try it because it won't work. I'm just throwing out an idea. Reply Back to Top |
| That idea would just make the board more congested Reply Back to Top |
| I'd say narrow the list to; 2013 QBs 2013 Offensive recruits 2013 Defensive recruits Update OPs with position by position breakdown of all targets, bump them often, and maybe the admins won't mind 3 stickies. A running index that notes beside each player's name what page of the thread contains validated info about them would be a lot of work, but will be the best way to kill clutter and redundant posting (or simply copy pasting to the OP). Also could have a stickied "Read this before posting here" thread that lays out the ground rules as far as premium (paysite) info, the above mentioned position threads, and possibly what is ok to start a new thread for. | I think it would work if whoever initiates each thread is as diligent about updating them as Bubba has been with the basketball threads. They don't really need to be stickied, they'll stay on the first couple pages anyway just by the nature of the threads, unless it's for a position group we've already filled up. Reply Back to Top |
| Only recently have I started posting in the stickied threads. I generally don't like them, because a new thread usually gets much more traction, if only for a short amount of time. I prefer the quick fix. Reply Back to Top |
| Any way to put the links to each position in a single thread, that would allow you to navigate to each and not take up too much space in front page? Reply Back to Top |
| I think the idea is pretty good. But IMO the reason the board is so successful and keeps me comming back is the freedom it gives you on the vast variety. For a person who gets on once a week or a few times a month this idea is great. But if you keep up with the board everyday, it's fairly easy to understand what's going on in each thread, especially if it's on page 1. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I agree to make each one of the positions a stickied thread on the 1st page would occupy the bulk of the first page, and-- like you-- I almost always only check the first page, so would prefer to not see the same thread titles every single day... I would tune them out over time. It might work as one stickied thread titled something like "Recruit Category Thread"-- sort of like the basketball recruit thread, but instead of the first post having to be diligently updated, it would list the various proposed thread categories (QB, RB, OL, LB, etc) as links to that topic / thread. This way only the main stickied thread and any thread with new info / current posts would remain on page one. I'm not sure it would consolidate info as desired and suspect it might become unwieldly over time, but if other posters think that this info is too fragmented as it is currently being posted, then this might have some benefit... But I also have to say, I'm more likely to click on and read a new one page thread about a highly rated linebacker who might visit than I would be to go to the last page of a 45 page linebacker thread to see what's new. If I don't see new headlines (thread titles), the board doesn't hold my attention and I leave quickly. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
