| Sue Goodell and the NFL? Posted by iPadThai With questions being raised all around about the way the investigation into the bounty gate was conducted seems like this is a good time to bring this up. Let's assume for a second sufficient proof emerges that the investigate was not conducted in a proper manner and legitimate evidence that would have proved innocence of some/all parties was ignored and the NFL is forced to apologize and reverse the suspensions......are there grounds for suing the NFL or Roger Goodell for bringing the Saints organization and players/coaches to disrepute? Is there any legal basis for such an action?Reply Back to Top |

| You can sue for damn near anything nowadays. If they think they have enough evidence that this irreparably damaged their, the players, image and by lack of evidence fell that there was a malicious intent, yeah i can see going forth with a liable/slander lawsuit and defamation of character. | Why would we want this story extended any further? It's done, let's drop it, get Brees signed, and play ball. If we start winning again, a year from now no one will remember this even happened. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I'm sorry, but this is getting out of hand. What fricking planet are you guys living on? Yes they can sue, but they have zero chance of winning. Hell, there is a good chance that if they did bring it to court, the other owners would freeze Benson out because those documents the NFL has will basically be leaked and released to the public. It sucks your team got caught, and it sucks that pretty much every other team in the league was doing the same thing, but good lord, at some point you gotta get over it. Its not like its going to ruin the season, you still have the best offense in the NFC. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Nope They would be shitting on their own product. The 32 teams ARE the NFL and Goodell works for the owners. So a big no. But using your set-up he would be fired by the owners and made to wear a silly hat. Reply Back to Top |
