My immediate reaction is that Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" should easily be in the top 10.

Agreed.

I also think Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks" is a top 10 album.

Your lack of taste is what's laughable. Enjoy the new Nickelback album.

Agreed. Rolling Stone did a favor and didn't just put every Beatles record from Rubber Soul on into the top 10.

Seconded. Highway 61, BoB, and Blood on the Tracks are all definite top 10.

Also, why does Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake drop off? Great album.

Did they just replace the Sun Sessions with Sunrise?

And I love Kid A, but 361 spots?

My current top 10

3–-- Bob Dylan – Highway 61 Revisited
4 ---Van Morrison – Astral Weeks
5 –-- The Rolling Stones – Exile On Main Street
6 --- The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band –-- The Beatles
7 –-- Bob Dylan – Blonde On Blonde
8 –-- Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon
9 –-- Led Zeppelin – Physical Graffiti
10---The Clash – London Calling

Only 4 of my personal top 10 made the list (London Calling, Bringing it All Back Home, Slanted and Enchanted, and Doolittle)

eta: actually, 5 made it. Didn't see The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society at first.

I agree with all of this except I wouldn't have Doolittle top 10. Doolittle and Surfer Rosa would definitely be in my top 40 though.

Agreed. In truth if I really had to make a list of what I consider the "best" ever it would probably be every record from Rubber Soul on, 4 or 5 Dylan records and probably Exile on Main Street. Music from Big Pink would be #11

I'll only speak on the rap albums. Having Public Enemy's millions album as the best/greatest is at least plausible but having Kanye West's "Late Registration" as the 2nd best/greatest rap album is completely laughable. I don't care what kind of list it is or what it's based on, in no way is "Late Registration" raps #2 album on any list. To me it's his 3rd best album and at best his 2nd greatest album. That's just his albums not all rap albums. Just to name 2, there are many, many more, that are better and greater, Nas "Illmatic" and Dr. Dre "The Chronic". That's just the 1st 2 off the top of my head and I can list off tons more. Ridiculous list.

I know The Beatles were great and all but really. Not every album they made was great. Same with Radiohead. I like Radiohead some and respect their craft a lot but in no way should all those Radiohead albums be on the list.

I am actually kind of shocked at how low they have OK Computer. 162 overall, 3rd best Radiohead album.

Although I have several disagreements, based on their selections, I think I have figured out their criteria. Game-changing albums or a new sound gets highly regarded. That being said, I can understand their list and its probably pretty consistent.

However, if what I say is correct, they have to have bob marley - Legend higher. Much higher.

I was surprised to see Jimi, experienced behind 5 Beatles albums. Top 20 for Jimi is respectable, but is like to see it higher.

On a positive note, I lwas glad to see stones, exile on main street in the top 10. Great album on many different levels.

Hotel California being at 37 is a joke. Should be in the top 20 easily.
