Nevada State Convention is going to be RNC vs NV GOP vis a vis Paul

The inner rumblings of the Paul camp and the RNC are that the Paul delegates are going to unbind the Nevada delegates (Of whom 20 or so belong to Mitt Romney). If this happens it violates an RNC rule that state binding rules must be submitted to the RNC by October of 2011. The Paul camp could possibly throw out the entire state of Nevada's delegation at the RNC to block Romney from reaching 1,144 delegates (And this is something that could happen in other states such as Texas).

In a letter delivered today to GOP Chairman Michael McDonald, the RNC's chief counsel said if Ron Paul delegates are allowed to take too many slots for the national convention, Nevada's entire contingent may not be seated in Tampa.

John R. Phillippe, Jr., said while his letter is not binding, "I believe it is highly likely that any committee with jurisdiction over the matter would find improper any change to the election, selection, allocation, or binding of delegates, thus jeopardizing the seating of Nevada’s entire delegation to the National Convention."

Clearly, the RNC fears that mischief at the Sparks convention this weekend could result in Ron Paul delegates taking Mitt Romney slots and then not abiding by GOP rules to vote for the presumptive nominee on the first ballot in Tampa. So they are trying to force McDonald to ensure that actual Romney delegates fill 20 of the 28 national convention slots, thus removing any mystery of who they will vote for.

What does this thread have to do with a "love of Paul". It is a very objective thread. The NV Paul delegates are going to make the NV GOP break RNC rules. If anything that is me criticizing the Paul campaign jackass.

Might it be that you are the constant voice extolling Paul, and any bit of press that he gets. Go smoke another Doobie, and give it up as to Paul and the Presidency. But just so we can pan out Paul, then ask him if he will not accept his retirement bennies for serving so long?

So you decide to call me out for my "love of Paul" in a thread where I'm being critical of the Paul campaign's actions? If so, you are one dumb motherfricker.

What link are you talking about?

There isn't any link in this thread.

Maybe you should read the OP next time before looking like an ignorant fool.

But apparently not too weary to troll them and take the time to make childish and pointless comments.

Some of us have been quite weary of people making utterly unfounded, uninformed, and simply false statements about Paul.

As in:

If I can make any sense of this it seems to suggest you are saying something about Paul gettting retirement benifits from congress.

Paul has always said he will not take part in the congressional retirement system, and he is not.

Don't piss off the nitwit.

This could end up being a black eye for the campaign.

Sometimes you have to take extraordinary measures to fight the system during a "revolution." I know that getting Paul in the white house would be the best thing for our country right now. However, doing it like this is a bit too far and will hurt them in the long run.

Paul is going to have a voice at the convention. He doesn't need to tear the GOP apart like this.

I don't think Paul just wants a "voice" and I'm certain that he wants to tear the GOP apart in its current form. I'm just not certain that this is the best way of doing it, although it could be.

It would seem that a statement of FACTS about the Republican delegate assignments to candidates is in order:

1. On Feb.4, 2012, approximately 33,000 registered Republicans in the state of Nevada attended precinct caucuses to accomplish two separate and distinct missions - to vote in a presidential preference primary, and to elect delegates to the District Conventions held in March. THESE ARE SEPARATE, NON-RELATED ACTIONS.

2. Those attending the caucuses knew the procedures that were clearly-defined and in place prior to participating in the precinct caucuses. That information had been covered in countless local publications and announcements, such as the one I have linked to below.

3. The rules of the state precinct caucuses were that delegates to the National Convention in Tampa in August would become BOUND delegates, and those delegates would be allocated according to the results of the presidential preference portion of the caucus activities.

4, Mitt Romney received 50.0% percent of the approx. 33,000 votes on Feb. 4th and was allocated 14 delegates.

5. Ron Paul received 18.7% of the approx. 33,000 votes on Feb. 4th and was allocated 5 delegates.

6. Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich combined to win 31.0% of the popular vote and thus together earned the remaining 9 of Nevada's 28 delegates.

7. Nevada's rules in place at the time of the caucuses state clearly that the delegates of any candidates who withdraw from the race are to be re-allocated to the remaining candidates according to a specified percentage of the vote. The rules resulted in Rommey being allocated 6 of the 9 Santorum/Gingrich votes, and Paul being allocated the remaining 3 delegates - resulting in a final allocation of Romney 20 and Paul 8.

8. The state convention this weekend will select the individuals to serve in the role as delegates to Tampa, meaning 20 of those going to Tampa will be BOUND to vote for Romney, and 8 will be BOUND to vote for Paul.

It's neither complicated nor ambiguous. The rules were in place before the Feb. 4th precinct caucuses, and everyone knew the rules of the selection process.

Ant attempt to change the rules after the process has been properly followed would be treated as a breach at both the state and national party level.

Those are the facts. There are no errors in my summation. For those with no time to follow each state closely, be assured you are now completely informed on the situation in Nevada going into this weekend's state convention.

This. F*ck the GOP. They have dug themselves a hole and have been corrupt for so many years...it's about time they get a taste of their own medicine.
