re: Possible Devonta Pollard + Rodney Hood with Coach Kirbyquote: That's not the Times-Pic, it's some independent website that often runs with speculation and doesn't do a great job of fact checking. Reply Back to Top |
| Will never happen. These guys don't eat BBQ Reply Back to Top |
| Pollard would be enough for me. Hood, if its even possible, would just be icing on the cake. Reply Back to Top |
| How about Pollard/Hood annnnnd one of those big Nigerian dudes, preferably Okafor? Reply Back to Top |
| JJ and staff have me very excited about the program again Reply Back to Top |
quote: You're right. My bad. I thought I was on NOLA.com, which is the Times-Picayune. Apparently sportsnola.com is totally different. Edited and noted for future reference. Reply Back to Top |
| Hood can not transfer to another SEC school as terms of his transfer Reply Back to Top |
| While you are probably right, we have seen in recent weeks that those things are negotiable and schools will buckle under media pressure if pushed. Hot-button issue right now. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I will personally be shocked if Mississippi State gave in to let one of their top players transfer to a school in the same conference and formerly in the same division. Reply Back to Top |
| I agree, and am not even sure LSU is trying to get him. I'm just saying it is not a slam dunk in today's environment. Release restrictions are not what they once were and will likely be gone in the future. Eta: Multiple SEC football and basketball players have been released in recent years with no restrictions. Just got this from a source who works in the MSU Athletic Dept. quote: Reply Back to Top |
| You're taking a hypothetical situation with likely no basis a little too seriously. And for the record, if Hood's family, AAU coach and high school coach decided to throw a shit-fit in the media, that restriction would be lifted within 48 hours. It's not a big enough deal for a new coach to risk future goodwill over. Again, this is all hypothetical. Reply Back to Top |
quote: Nah. It's very reasonable not to release a kid within the conference. Reply Back to Top |
| Hood just needs to go d2 for a year then transfer to LSU and play immediately. He's gotta sit out anyway, go play and stay in game shape, then jump back into the sec. Reply Back to Top |

| I agree, but the landscape on this issue is changing quickly. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I personally don't get it. Is Miles the only coach in SEC athletics to allow it or is it just because he known Jones wouldn't have much of an impact? Reply Back to Top |
| That's fine. LSU will just send an e-mail to the Mike & Mike show. He will then be allowed to transfer to any school he chooses. Reply Back to Top |
| There is so much ambiguity in cbb recruiting! But if just 1/4 of the rumors come true, its sweet sixteen or bust this season for the tigers! This post was edited on 4/29 at 8:48 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: bingo. i find it funny that at the time he was released, miles was getting slammed by the fan base, mike d, and media for not being able to "develop" talent. Jones was one of them. Yet, he go's to the genius db coach and has the same result. no one questioning why lord saban couldn't develop him. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
