| The PGA Tour MDF rule has got to be the dumbest... Rule in all of professional sports. It's simply to manage CBS's desired TV time...screw them. Reply Back to Top |
| you mean making the cut? How can they pay that many people if they didn't have a cut line? Reply Back to Top |
| No, the MDF (made cut did not finish) rule effectively is a second cut after Saturday when more than 70 are still playing and they want to reduce the tee times so they can end the round as close to 5 to meet TV times. Those who make the 36 hole cut but not the 54 are still paid and receive FedEx cup points but they don't have the chance to increase that on Sunday because of TV. Complete crap. Reply Back to Top |

| Sorry, I was confused. Reply Back to Top |
| If you cant make 70 and ties on Friday and Saturday you shouldnt be playing on Sunday anyway. The guys who mdf'd shot 73-77 on Saturday. Reply Back to Top |
| Its the equivalent of having a 10 run rule in the MLB. Reply Back to Top |
quote: What? There have been plenty of 10 run innings. Largest non major comeback on Sunday is 9. The guys who MDF were 15 back. Reply Back to Top |
quote: I'm not saying you have the opportunity to win, but you have the opportunity to increase your earnings and FedEx Cup standings, just because TV says so. Reply Back to Top |
| And what kind of purses would they be playing for without TV? Reply Back to Top |
| Not just tv. It is also volunteers and other things. 4 groups mdf'd. Thats 40 minutes extra. In the sony it was like 9 groups. Plus the more groups, the slower pace is. Also, they would be split teeing if they didnt do that. And that just sucks. This post was edited on 4/29 at 6:01 pm Reply Back to Top |
quote: True, but the rule's only been in place for 3 years. Purses haven't increased because of the MDF rule. Reply Back to Top |
quote: They could have done a single tee today. There's still 2 hours of daylight left and the tourney ended 30 minutes ago after a two hole playoff. Reply Back to Top |
| It is Sunday. Who wants to be out there til dark? Reply Back to Top |
| I'd like this better if there was a little more uniformity to the rule. If there was always an mdf, it would be better. I'd be in favor of a top 70 cut on Friday, then the top 60 on Sunday with everyone who made it to Saturday getting paid. Right now, it's a little unfair because this doesn't happen every week. There's a decent chance that one of the 8 guys who got mdf'd this week could've shot 65 today and made several thousand more dollars. Reply Back to Top |

| All Golfer is trying to say is that the rule sucks for guys who make the first cut but get cut after Saturday's round and don't get a chance to compete for a higher purse or more FedEx Cup points. Reply Back to Top |

| The All Star Game being in the middle of the season is retarded. I think the team with the best overall record should get homefield. Reply Back to Top Refresh |
